Marker and graphite on drawing paper.

Artist Statment

My artwork was inspired by Matisse and Robert McCall. I wanted to draw something colorful (Matisse) but something space-related, (McCall) I love to draw space-related topics. I found Robert McCall was a great example of space-themed art. My inspiration from Matisse was what expanded my color palette, he made me think of color combos I would never use otherwise, and using the markers helped me realize that my mistakes can be fixed within a matter of seconds. I would have liked to give my alien a bigger facial expression, if I were to make this again I definitely would have touched upon that and the ears, preferably smaller.
