Artist's Statement:

My ideas for these pieces was to just keep it simple. I knew that the prints would be the majority of my work so I decided to just keep the linoleum block to just a simple but still cool design. I knew it would be perfectly symmetrical because of how the print works, and it still obviously looked the same like the other side of the cats eye. It was also very convenient because it was easily customisable, having too distinct layers of uncarved space. This meant that I could put ink one one of the spaces, cover the other in paper towels and make a print, and then on that same print just do the same thing with the other section.  The solid ink, and unique surface print were farrelly simple, well the hand colored and multi ink print I got creative. I actually got the inspiration for my multi-ink print from Lila and Emma, because I saw them using multiple colors on the roller, and I decided to do it cool because it looked awesome!

I used a linoleum block,  assorted colors of ink, sharpie markers, a  brayer a bench hook, a  guage carved, white paper, and black construction paper.

It was originally difficult to make a good print, but I eventually got the hang out it after a few. I learned how much ink to put on, the perfect sound of the roller when it was ready, and the correct way to get all the ink on the paper with no smudges. I really like the multi-ink, and the hand colored ones, because they really stand out. For the multi-ink I used the colors red, yellow, and blue all together to have a really cool effect of blending colors. For the hand colored one I not only printed with two colros of ink, but I also colored it in with seven different colores of sharpie. In the end I am happy with the looks of all four of the prints, and it was a fun processs.
