Design Step 2

Copy of Mia Davis - Classification Scheme - first take

The Coggle:

The Coggle was used as a brainstorming mind map that we used to start ideas for our classification scheme.

The Padlet:

The Padlet was another place where we brainstormed, but included different photos.

The Classification Scheme:

The Classification Scheme was where we pulled together all of the different ideas, brought them to life by drawing them, and then placing them side by side to compare them. This way, be can combine different components and create different ideas that include all of the functions we want and need.

Reflection:

While doing Design Step 2, I am beginning to see our product come to life. When brainstorming ideas all first semester, in Design Step 1, and even in some of Design Step 2, ideas were there, but I could never truly see them all together. Now, with these final steps, I can see actual ideas that can be used for our product.

Designing the product has been super simple because this group works well at brainstorming multiple different ideas. Using the classification scheme, we are able to come up with at least 50 different product designs. I think that as a group we collaborated very well, and that has been noticeable in the outcome of our work.

One thing I might change is how many different ways we brainstormed. This is the third Padlet we have done, along with a Coggle, individual design sketches, and group design sketches. Although brainstorming is an important step in designing, I think that there are more productive things we could have done in this time, including focusing on a final design and beginning to build a prototype.

I am looking forward to coming up with a final design sketch, and beginning to build a prototype that we can test, redesign, retest, and redesign.
