Introduction:
To begin with , we had to ask our self's "Where would the bench be placed?", "How much would it cost?", and third question " What would it look like?". We first decided to design our bench, since it was easiest to vision a bench an modify it as we go. One of our group member started to sketch design of 2x4's and dowels. We agreed to not go bigger since it would be more expensive and would be best if we kept it simple and clean.
Design:
We used redwood for the seats , and pressure treated wood for the bottom of the bench. Our design was chosen to be simple to assemble. We agreed to use wood pieces to slot in together and to support rigidity. Our bench is high in quality and with a flare of aesthetic.
Materials used:
Redwood - Used for the main seating area, color coded in tan.
Expensive so only used for the main part of the chair for sitting people, will rot if exposed to the ground or excessive water.
Pressure - Used for the main legs.
Cheap and will not rot due to chemicals injected into the wood panels.
Wooden Dowels - Hold together the legs and make it much easier to create the bench.
Cheap and strong, easy to create and put together
Slats - Cheap and don't soak up water
Reflection:
For this project I really had to self reflect on my actions and choices. I did not communicate or collaborate with my group as much as I would have liked too. I was more closed off since there was no one I was friends with so I was scared to share or ask for help. This leads into my lack of collaborating skills. Two things I did do well was my character, I felt that I gave a positive attitude for others and carried out the empathy during this group project. Lastly, I did well as a consciousness learner. I followed to the leaders of my group and learned a lot from them. Overall, this project was not my favorite but It really challenged me in situation that make me uncomfortable and allowed me to persevere through them.
