For my Do It Better project my group chose to do Solve a World Problem. In the original Solve a World Problem I chose car airbags as the problem. Though I thought my partner and I did a relatively good job, our solution was could have been more clear and how we would achieve our solution. For our Do It Better project we chose to find a solution for the lack of women's safety within a social route. This was an improvement because it is more likely to be applied in society and actually help women going through a tough time. Even though the airbags we designed for the first project was a reasonable solution it would be more controversial to take to action rather than have a lesson plan implemented in school districts.
Identify need: It is known women's safety is a problem all over the world but my group chose to focus our research within the U.S.
Research: For a few days my group spent them researching and putting what we found in a rough draft google slide.
Brainstorm: After having enough data we decided that a social solution would be the best fit our problem. This social solution would be an educational program for all ages.
Prototype: Our plan is to design our own education program. So we started brainstorming how to organize it on a website.
Test & Evidence: After receive advice to look at a real lesson plan we decided to not make our own website
Redesign: One group member found a lesson plan and we decided to use that as a template for our own.
Communicate: After completing all our research and creating a solution we put it into our finial slideshow and presented it to the class.
Reflection: This project did not feel very time consuming and the freedom around this project felt nice. Everyone went off and did their own things so it was more calm while working. My group worked really well together and overall a great group to end the year with. I was a good communicator and conscientious learner. I was a active listener and gave my honest opinion when asked. For the most part I was sticking to my own work but there were some days were I was not begin productive and zoned out of the project. If I were to do this project again I think if I stayed on task the entire time we would've finished faster. I would also like to become a better leader. Caitlin was helping lead us through the project and making sure that we all agreed on what we were doing before continuing. I felt that when I didn't know what to do instead of just sitting there I should've asked my team members what I should do next.
