Mentor Professional Development Requirements for Stipend Eligibility
(As outlined in Article 22 of the GREA Contract)
Mentors assigned to support a mentee must complete the following professional development (PD) requirements to be eligible for a stipend:
Supporting new staff hired before January 1: Must complete at least two (2) Mentor Academy courses during the school year.
Supporting new staff hired after January 1: Must complete at least one (1) Mentor Academy course during the school year.
Must attend or facilitate at least one (1) Mentor Academy session each year to maintain certification and remain eligible for compensation.
A Certified Mentor has completed the full Mentor Academy PD series, including:
MA100 – Introductory
MA200 – Intermediate
MA300 – Advanced
Note: This "certified" designation refers only to GRPS's internal training and
is not linked to MDE certification or equivalent to being “trained.”
Courses completed from September 2014 to present may count toward certification. Mentor Academy courses taken prior to September 2014 do not qualify. Please refer to your transcripts to verify your course history.
Any Mentor Academy courses completed beyond the required minimum may count toward:
Above & Beyond PD credit
Mentor certification (if not yet completed)
SCECHs for certification renewal
All required mentor PD must be completed by the final Mentor Academy session of the school year.
For the 2025–2026school year, the deadline is the first Friday of May.
This includes all online modules.
