Dual Enrollment

College in the High School

University of Pittsburgh at Bradford

Franklin High School partners with Pitt at Bradford to offer entry-level college courses.  This means students can earn college credits and become familiar with college-level academics while still in high school.  Students must be in their junior or senior year to participate in this program.  They must also meet the FHS prerequisites set for the course.

College in the High School courses are taught by certified high school teachers who have a master’s degree or the master’s equivalency and have been certified as adjunct faculty members by the university.  High school teachers work throughout the year with Pitt-Bradford faculty member liaisons, whether it is course-specific or about student achievement in general.

The high school teachers assign letter and percentage grades for the courses.  These are based on assignments, quizzes and tests determined by both faculty members and a final exam provided by the university.

The CHS courses offered at Franklin High School are Honors Calculus, Probability & Statistics, Conceptual Physics and Biology CHS.  The cost to take the class as a CHS class is $125.00.  Students make application in October.
