Students in 4th grade visited Real Food Farms to learn about gardening, bee keeping and composting. They also got a chance to taste some different herbs and vegetables.
Our students participated in a gardening summit along with other Baltimore City Students. The mission of Great Kids Farm is to engage Baltimore City Schools students at all grade levels to support classroom learning, participate in every aspect of food preparation, and prepare students for success in 21st century colleges and careers.

The Baltimore City Green Schools Network began in 2010 and includes students, parents, administrators, staff and community partners - including individuals, businesses, nonprofit organizations and public agencies - all working together to increase green and sustainable practices and environmental education in City Schools. We welcome your interest in and support of our efforts to minimize the environmental impact of our buildings, education school communities about the connections between daily actions and the environment, and empower our students to be leaders in creating a more sustainable city and society.

The Network includes efforts at both the district level and at the individual school level and is grouped into seven Action Teams:
Family and Community Engagement Action Team is committed to developing and gathering resources to engage parents and families throughout Baltimore City in sustainability and greening activities.
Learning to Work Green Action Team focuses on making sustainability a career pathway for our students.
Student Environmental Leadership Action Team (SELAT) brings student voices together and plans events and actions to support youth environmental leadership in Baltimore and beyond.
Sustainable and Healthy Food Systems Action Team aims to improve collaboration between community organizations and educators throughout Baltimore to increase access to and consumption of healthier food in City Schools.
Sustainable Facilities Action Team is focused on the design, operation and maintenance of facilities and aims to connect those things to curriculum, with the goal of impacting student health, operations, operational costs and the environment.
