Our Green Team made a video during the 2015-2016 school year that really hit home with all of our teachers. We shared the video with the entire staff at a staff meeting January 2016. We then had them have their entire classes watch the video too!
Sam Little from Parks and People came and did a workshop with our teachers. Teachers learned about the practice of public participation and collaboration in scientific research to increase scientific knowledge. Through citizen science, people share and contribute to data monitoring and collection programs. 12 members out of our 50 teaching staff explored several tools for collecting data, such as National Geographic's FieldScope, FrogWatch and Project FeederWatch.

We held a professional development workshop for our staff. Teachers learned ways to improve Air Quality in their classrooms and homes. We also provided the staff with some resources that they could use in their classroom. In addition, we had make and take activities where the staff made their own green all-purpose cleaner for their classrooms, and planted a plant for their classrooms. 18 members of our 50 teaching staff signed in to participate.
We arranged for Project Learning Tree to come and present to our staff on one of the Professional Development Days.
Project Learning Tree is an award-winning environmental education program designed for teachers and other educators, parents, and community leaders working with youth from preschool through grade 12.
Our Pre-K through grades 2 teachers attended as well as some support staff. This included 19 members of our 50 teaching staff.
