Anaphoric cueing: a technique in which students are taught to interpret pronouns by connecting them to characters/people in the text.
· First, highlight pronouns and character references in the same colour.
· Second, ask follow-up questions using pronouns to check for understanding, e.g., "Who does she/he represent in the story/text? "." What is he/she doing?" or "Where is he/she?" (6).
