Weak Central Coherence

Weak Central Coherence theory (WCC) refers to a cognitive weakness in students with ASD and causes them to focus on the details in a text rather than the overall meaning. Therefore, students with ASD may struggle to filter out unnecessary parts of the text and often only remember the parts which interest them; in other words, they experience difficulties in summarising salient points and understanding main ideas (9;19).
