The pictures are of an environment/level design made by Ekaterina Zinovieva on art station.
I like the stylized art style, so making environments in that style would be an area of interest for me. I also just like how environments fill the game world making the unreal feel real.
Careers in the films industry can include 3D modeler, environment artist, VFX artist, animator, character designer, Lighting artist, rigger etc.
Similar to the games industry, if I were to take up a role in the Film or Tv industry, it would most likely be 3D modeler, environment artist, VFX artist.
The pictures are the environment art which was made with the help of Jonathan Bacheter. The movie he made the 3D models for is called Time's Down.
If I were to work in a specific area of environment art, it would most likely be the 3D modelling of assets for the environment and potentially the texturing/material making for the 3D models depending on what the job intakes.
Blender is a 3D software which has many uses including 3D modelling and is very well known by most people in the 3D industry whether they use it or not. Blender is difficult to learn at first however the more you know how to use it the easier it gets. Most smaller companies will use blender and some bigger companies will use it, but not all of the time. Often to create a game or film or anything 3D companies will use multiple software together.
Substance Painter is a 3D texturing tool used to add textures/materials to 3D assets. Using blender as an example, you can export you're 3D mesh and import it into Substance Painter then, after using the unwrapping tool built into the software, you can add textures and materials to the 3D mesh. Substance Painter also comes with a selection of smart materials built in which you can then drag and drop onto the model applying the texture.
