The game was released on September 30th, 2020 in Japan after a Rehearsal Edit version was publicized 25 days earlier, which showcased the game's mechanics alongside Virtual Lives where players were able to interact with one another. The Taiwanese version was released exactly a year later before bringing the English version to global applications on December 7th, 2021.
The game is set in Shibuya, Tokyo. In the beginning of the game, a first-year student named Hoshino Ichika treads through the streets before laying eyes on an LCD screen that displays Hatsune Miku, a Vocaloid software voice-bank developed by Crypton Future Media and its official mascot.
Upon returning home, Ichika discovers a song named "Untitled" on her smartphone. Curious, she plays the song, only to get surrounded by a white light and winding up in an unfamiliar place. Hatsune Miku stands before her, welcoming her to Sekai (a mysterious world differing from the real world) and inviting the girl to sing together.
There are different Sekai worlds, each answering the wishes and inner turmoils of the creators who want to turn their feelings into songs. For example, Ichika created the school Sekai, a world for Leo/need. Virtual Singers appear in these worlds with different appearances and personalities in each Sekai. They help the units to discover their true feelings.
People can travel to Sekai by playing an "Untitled" song. These songs have no melody and are created at the same time as an alternate world.
Nightcord at 25:00's Sekai: an empty, desolate world.
Wonderlands x Showtime's Sekai: a lively theme park.
Vivid BAD SQUAD's Sekai: a street.
MORE MORE JUMP!'s Sekai: a stage.
Leo/need's Sekai: a classroom.
The game features 20 characters which exclude the six Virtual Singers and are categorized in five different groups as named above. Each group has Virtual Singers advising them and more appear as the game and events progress.
The four girls of this group were once childhood friends before an incident occurred during middle school and caused their relationship to become strained. It began as a hobby band formed by amateur musicians Hoshino Ichika, Tenma Saki, Mochizuki Honami, and Hinomori Shiho when in grade school. The group disbanded after Saki's hospitalization.
In their first year of high school, they reformed the band with a more professional demeanor under the name Leo/need, with Ichika providing vocals and lead guitar, Saki on keyboard, Honami on drums, and Shiho on bass.
The music designated to their band in-game lean towards J-rock.
From left to right: Shiho, Honami, Saki, and Ichika hanging out together.
From left to right: Airi, Minori, and Shizuku cheering for Haruka's singing.
Hanasato Minori has always dreamed of being an idol, whilst Kiritani Haruka, Momoi Airi, and Hinomori Shizuku gave up on their dream of being one by quitting for various reasons.
Minori's passion began from seeing Haruka on TV and they both became friends when the former retired. Soon, Minori and the Virtual Singers convinced Haruka to return to idolhood with Shizuku and Airi, forming MORE MORE JUMP!
The music designated to their band in-game are upbeat, danceable, and heavily influenced by J-pop attributes.
One day, Kohane stumbles upon a jam session hosted by An and her friends, convincing her to become a street musician herself.
Vivid BAD SQUAD was formed of two already established duos; BAD DOGS (consisting of Shinonome Akito and Aoyagi Toya) and Vivids (consisting of Azusawa Kohane and Shiraishi An). The group began singing cover songs, with Akito and An occasionally writing songs.
They made their debut in the live houses of Vivid Street, aiming to surpass the legendary event RAD WEEKEND.
The music designated to their band in-game are upbeat with elements of EDM, hip-hop, and pop.
From left to right: Kohane, An, Akito, and Toya training.
From left to right: Nene, Emu, Tsukasa, and Rui after a performance.
Tenma Tsukasa was hired to work part-time at a theme park, although the Phoenix Wonderland Stage he was assigned to drew in no customers. Soon after, he meets Otori Emu, who wants to restore the stage to its former glory.
Wonderlands×Showtime was formed by Tenma Tsukasa, Kamishiro Rui, Kusanagi Nene, and their scout, Otori Emu, for the purpose of performing children's shows on Phoenix Wonderland's Wonder Stage. All four perform, with Tsukasa taking on extra duties as playwright and Rui as director.
The music designated to their band in-game is upbeat, theatrical, and usually hones towards a story-line.
The group was formed by composer Yoisake Kanade, who formed a partnership with Asahina Mafuyu who becomes her arranger and mixer.
Kanade invites two more artists, Shinonome Ena and Akiyama Mizuki, with Ena becoming the group's illustrator and Mizuki being the video editor. Nightcord at 25:00 operated entirely online under anonymous aliases.
The members only met in person when Mafuyu went missing, with the other three travelling to the empty Sekai to find her. From then on, they occasionally meet up face-to-face.
The music designated to their band in-game are downtempo and darker in sound and subject matter in comparison to other units.

Hatsune Miku
Kagamine Len
MEIKO
Virtual Singers
Hatsune Miku and her friends (Kagamine Len, Kagamine Rin, Megurine Luka, MEIKO, KAITO) exist in the real world as Virtual Singers.
They sing songs from creators all over the world, and appear inside Sekai in familiar and unfamiliar forms to help young people discover their true feelings.
There's several personalities of each Virtual Singer in every Sekai. For example, in the empty Sekai, KAITO is more hostile and rude to the other characters. In other Sekais, he's kinder and compassionate.
Almost every song in the game is originally sung by one or more of the Virtual Singers with covers provided for the game's original characters.
Kagamine Rin
Megurine Luka
KAITO
It came out on Windows, iOS, and Android on April 26th, 2023, and later on was added to the PS5 on October 11th of the same year.
The protagonist features either a male or female Trailblazer depending on your choice- who travels across planets with the Astral Express in order to expel disasters caused by "Stellarons", essentially a cancer of all worlds, as well as other third-parties that may rival against the main group. There are currently three accessible planets in-game.
To the left shows Xipe, the Aeon that represents Harmony. Understanding, supportive, and cooperative actions and beliefs are manifestations of this path.
In game, characters that follow this path apply buffs to allies to improve the team's combat capacities.
The forms of Aeons that are visible to the mortal eye are assumed to be a mere projection from a higher-dimensional plane. Aeons are incapable of doing anything that contradicts their path.
For example, the protagonist Trailblazer follows the path of Trailblaze (shocker), which corresponds with the Aeon Akivili. This Aeon disappeared unexpectedly, leaving their followers to continue their exploration through the Astral Express.
To the right shows Lan, the Aeon that represents The Hunt. Decisive, ruthless, and vengeful actions and beliefs are manifestations of this path.
In game, characters that follow this path deal extraordinary single-target damage.
There are dozens of planets, star clusters, and galaxies that are referenced in game through dialogue or information, however there are only four you can access currently in the game's trajectory.
This is the first location you visit in the game.
Belobog is divided into two regions; The Overworld and The Underworld. The former has a constant temperature and daily life continues like before, whilst the latter had a more difficult time adjusting to the disaster.
It is the second world you visit in the game.
The Luofu stands out amongst the other ships for its medical equipment and trade.
Penacony's Dreamscape is divided into twelve discrete dream worlds, each corresponding to a moment on the clock;
Moment of Midnight, the starting point of all dreams.
Moment of Serenity, when the first ray of sunlight shines over the horizon.
Moment of Morning Dew, the start of a day.
Moment of Daybreak, presumably based on the early morning. (shocker)
Moment of Gilded Hour, presumably the moment before noon.
Moment of Sol, the moment that strikes noon.
Moment of Oasis, presumably afternoon.
Moment of Scorchsand, presumably the moment before dusk.
Moment of Dusk, presumably dusk. (again, shocker)
Moment of Blue Hour, presumably the moment after dusk.
Moment of Stars, based on the 11th hour of the clock.
Moment of Golden Hour, based on the moment before midnight.

Stelle
An anime television series adaptation was produced by Bones. The first season aired between July and September 2016, followed by a second season from January to April 2019, and a third and final season from October to December 2022.
The narrative follows Shigeo Kageyama, nicknamed Mob, a young middle schooler living in Seasoning City. Ever since he was a child, he has harbored immense psychic powers, yet this phenomenon was unable to grant him his greatest wish: to be close with a girl he likes from his class.
Shigeo Kageyama, nicknamed Mob and White-T Poison, is the main protagonist of the series. He is a third-year student at Salt Middle School, the vice president of the Body Improvement Club, and a former assistant and disciple of Arataka Reigen.
From a young age, Shigeo has repressed his emotions following an incident that injured his younger brother to avoid unleashing his formidable psychic powers. This practice has made him exceedingly passive, showing minimal emotional response.
However, Shigeo's self-control has its limits, and intense emotions can trigger a powerful outburst of his psychic abilities, reflecting his dominant emotional state. Typically, these outbursts occur in dangerous situations, revealing negative emotions, like the state of 100% Rage he displayed during his initial confrontation with Dimple.
He is reserved and struggles in social situations. His aloof exterior results in him having very few friends. Shigeo is incredibly compassionate and kind, learning to not hold grudges against others. This is proven in the series where he prefers to talk things out rather than use his psychic powers first and foremost. He's also very forgiving, even towards those who have hurt him.
Arataka Reigen is Mob's mentor and boss. As the self-proclaimed "Greatest Psychic of the 21st Century", he owns and operates the Spirits and Such Consultation Office. He is the deuteragonist of the series.
He has few qualms about manipulating clients, allies, and even spirits to his advantage. Later in the series, he feels guilty for manipulating Mob in particular. He's an esteemed man that is guided by principles and is very socially intelligent. Despite harboring no real psychic powers, his keen intellect and ability to read others is on the same level, or occasionally even surpasses, that of an esper.
Despite his status as a con artist, he has been able to solve all of his clients' spiritual problems through procedures such as massaging and offering a form of assurance by listening to them. He's a man with integrity and refuses payment if a job goes poorly.
He considered quitting his job in the Spirits and Such Consultation Office and finding something else to do. However, the day he chews this over, Mob visits his office for guidance on his powers. Reigen believes the boy is lying about having psychic powers, brushing it off as a child's imagination, however invites Mob inside anyway.
When Mob demonstrates his psychic ability by lifting a falling cup of tea and putting the liquid back inside with telekinesis, Reigen finds this a perfect chance to have Mob assist him in exorcising spirits. He lies to the boy about being a powerful esper, but this is resolved later in the series.
Dimple is a self-proclaimed upper-class evil spirit who has aligned himself with Mob after being defeated by him, going on to be the tritagonist of the series.
Previously, he was introduced in the third episode as the leader of a cult named LOL, in which he made all of the members laugh and experience "happiness." After losing to Mob in the series' first fight, he sets out to gain Mob's trust in the hopes of possessing the boy's body and use it to become a God, but this backfires in every scenario. Instead, Dimple accompanies Mob and tries to convince Mob himself to become a god due to how powerful he is. Alongside this, he helps out on many occasions.
He's a simple yet funny spirit and doesn't hesitate to help Mob when the boy is in grave danger. He's enamored by Mob's power as an esper.
