I began by creating a new animation canvas on ibispaint X that scaled from 640x480 as it was the largest I could choose (larger canvases require a paid membership).
I took the storyboard and applied it to the animatic before drawing out certain scenes and beginning to animate on 2s, 4s, and sometimes 8s when I wanted there to be a substantial pause.
However, production became rocky once the application would crash my progress and require me to reboot the entire file (which can take up to an hour). This happened many times and made my motivation plummet with frustration.
It's a restrictive feature, too, as I'm unable to copy certain aspects or layers from one frame to another. It lagged constantly, buffered my phone, and was overall incredibly unpleasant to work with.
Adding animation to colored frames was difficult as well and the onion-skinning did not appear unless the frames before and after were transparent.
Fortunately, as it's a program I'm familiar with, drawing the actual frames provided little issues.
I made it 31 seconds instead as I had a longer idea for the end.
I'd love to animate something again- but in a less taxing program. I'm hoping to get a new PC by February to plug my XPPen into!
I watched several tutorials on how to use basic elements in Premiere Rush and it's a very helpful and simple application for editing. I used the available audios to make sound effects at the right intervals so it would coincide with the animation's movements. I also added ambiance with nature sounds at a low volume for background noise.
I added sweet, almost triumphant music at the end for when they unite. I wanted the sounds to be cartoonish and whimsical, proven by the cork pop when the ghost appears from the bushes or when it shuffles into the tree trunk.
I would make the sounds fade from the beginning and end to soften it and not cause an abrupt start or end to the audio. For the video itself, I added a black fade-in and fade-out similarly to a movie or theatrical story.
I simply had fun with the sound effects and experimented with them as it was my first time using Premiere Rush.
