This is a class and is taught on an A/B rotation throughout the school year. In class you'll wear the assigned uniform once every two weeks for inspection (Wednesday or Thursday), and you'll have Physical Training on Fridays (when you have the class). During the school year everyone has a chance to practice safe air rifle handling and shoot poster targets around November. Drill (military marching) is also taught in the curriculum. You'll learn and participate in lessons that involve general military subjects, career exploration, leadership, citizenship, and personal growth and responsibility. 

If you have the time and commitment, I highly recommend participating in extracurricular activities with JROTC. This is very a helpful way to get to know more people in the program beyond your class period, and helps you with the class in the long run. How much effort you put into the class/ program determines how much you'll get out of it, there are so many opportunities throughout the year- so take advantage of them.
