The AK Drill Team allows cadets to practice discipline and consistency throughout the year. Drill helps cadets practice important skills like the ability to listen and follow directions under pressure, learning through consistency, confidence with leading a unit, confidence in themselves, mentorships, and more. Drill is military marching and it is also taught in the class curriculum, beyond class we participate in parades and competitions. Being a part of the drill team will give you the upper hand in class as you practice the movements way more. Drill can be tricky to learn at times, but it is very rewarding once you put the work in. Practice starts the first week of school! Seasons usually run from August - April.
Practice Days*; Tuesday's (2:30 - 4:30pm), Thursday's (2:30 - 4:30pm)
*This schedule depends on the week, you will be notified if there are any changes. For example during exam weeks there may be no practices, and the week of a competition we may practice everyday. We practice on the bus parking lot (cones are laid out to ensure safety & an instructor is always present). During inclement weather, we practice in the first floor hallways of the school.Â
Only members of the Drill Team or parade participants will get issued all forms of the "blues uniform"; Dress Blue Bravos, Dress Blue Charlies, and Dress Blue Deltas.Â
