Two kids act like their announcers as they watch people play soccer in a concentration camp. Two guards yell at them to stop.

The fence is a symbol used to enforce an idea of separation and oppression. The guards symbolize the oppressor and the furthering of discriminatory values. The kids symbolize people in history who were held in camps like these and put through the unimaginable.

6. Use the technical evaluation information from below to analyze and evaluate the following technical aspects:

Write a couple of sentences about each of these for both films you watched.

a. Lighting:

The lighting is dark and somber to convey a sad and depressing mood.

b. Sound:

The sound quality is good to ensure the viewer can hear the kid pretend to be an announcers, the players kicking the ball around, and the guards signaling them to stop. This is important to show the viewer all the aspects that go into the full story.

c. Editing:

The video had little to no cuts. I think this style of continuous editing is to show that their behind a fence as it pulls out and we see their being contained.

d. Cut-aways:

I didn't notice any cuts. If their was any they were very smooth and un-noticeable.

e. Transitions:

The transition of the camera pulling out from the kid talking to us seeing the guards in front of the fence was very smooth. At first you cant tell their behind a fence, then as it pulls away we learn more about what is really happening.

5. Who characters are in the story and tell me a little about how they interact, if they do.

The characters are the mother and her daughters. They are seen very loving in the beginning as they hold hands. Then she sends them off to hide for their protection.

The sound is good so we can hear the interaction between the three as the mom tells them to hide. Then the sound of the gunshot helps the viewer know that danger has struck.

c. Editing:

The editing is done in an appealing fast paced way to show the the viewer the high tension.

d. Cut-aways:

The cuts change from the mom watching her children run and the kids running into the woods. This is important to show the intensity and fast paced energy of the dire situation.

e. Transitions:

The transition from the three together to the two running away help convey a sense of loss and sacrifice to in hopes protect the daughters.
