Monday:

Fluency: Final check

Have someone ready to time you and listen to you read. These all three should be done one right after the other. Each story should be read aloud for 1 minute. When the one minute is up, mark the spot and finish reading. Answer the comprehension questions and count how many words you read. Then move on to the next story and repeat the directions. Report back this information to me.

For a point of reference we aim to have you reading 163 words with 98% accuracy by the end of the school year. Keep in mind we have not been able to practice fluency on a regular basis.

Tuesday:

Pick your best piece of writing to edit and submit to me as evidence of your writing. Be sure to edit your work on your own. Things we always look for as we edit include capitalization, punctuation, grammar usage, and overall content. As I have said before, I want to know what you know, not what someone else knows.

Wednesday:

Respond to the form below which asks questions about your thoughts on key concepts of reading we have been learning this year. The response should be at a 5th grade level of writing and must have evidence to support your thoughts that is properly cited.

Thursday

Use this time to read as much as you need to finish up the book you are currently reading. Hopefully you are able to get in one more AR quiz before the year ends.

Friday

They have opened the link to AR to be available at home. If you would like to take a quiz on what you are reading please use this link. This is optional.

Use this day to get caught up on anything else that you may need to work on. Also, you can take this day to write in your journal. You can find writing prompts on the "Week at a Glance" tab for week 9.
