Unit 6 Week 6

Dear Family Member:

This week our class will be focusing again on the important skills covered during the last five weeks. Here are some activities you can do with your child to help reinforce the skills we’ll be reviewing and extending.

  • Read together a letter from a newspaper, magazine, or online publication.
  • Write a letter together that you might want to send to the publication.
  • Ask your child to present the letter as a short speech to family members or to friends.

Before your child presents the speech, discuss this checklist.

√ Review your letter. Did you stay on topic?

√ Make eye contact with the audience.

√ Ask your audience if they have any comments about your opinions.

Showing interest in your child’s reading, writing, and speaking will help his or her progress.

This week is a unit review which covers skills from this entire unit as well as others that have been taught throughout the year. I have broken the review into smaller pieces to work on throughout the week. These are similar to our weekly assessments from before. Please send a copy to me when you are completed.

Friday

They have opened the link to AR to be available at home. If you would like to take a quiz on what you are reading please use this link. This is optional.

Use this day to get caught up on anything else that you may need to work on. Also, you can take this day to write in your journal. You can find writing prompts on the "Week at a Glance" tab for week 8.
