Communication and change management are an important component of the strategy of the Rector and the Exco.Ā
Each staff member will have their own beliefs and values and it is important to understand change and believe in the College vision.Ā
If staff do not see the benefit and vision of the power of 8, natural barriers will form and they will simply not change or support either the new processes or people in leadership positions. The greater the number of staff who either do not understand the desire for change, or donāt want to change, or have leaders who are ambivalent or negative about the change, the greater the chance of failure of the power of 8 strategy.Ā Ā
Excellent and consistent communication is therefore crucial.Ā
To support the communication of the vision from the Rector, from Exco and from the project team members, the Rector has individual staff from across the College to become change champions.Ā The change champion network will be coached and managed by the Deputy Head of Human Resources, Mr Lukhanyiso Msutu.Ā Ā
Support to the Champions comes from the Head of Human Resources, the Deputy Head of Human Resources and the vision will be shared with the champions by the Rector and the power of 8 project team members. Escalation of blockages and concerns from the change champions are to be shared with Human Resources.
a group of change champions from across the College will be coached and equipped to facilitate either one-on-one meetings or small groups of staff for Q&A sessions.Ā Ā
