Why is Colorado modernizing its procurement environment?
Colorado's current procurement environment relies on multiple systems and manual tools. Current-state analysis has identified challenges including fragmented systems, manual processes and workarounds, duplicate data entry and handoffs, reporting challenges, limited vendor self-service, and difficulty locating procurement information. The modernization project is an opportunity to create a simpler, more connected procurement experience.
Who will benefit from eProcurement modernization?
The project is intended to benefit the people and organizations involved in procurement across Colorado, including requestors, approvers, procurement professionals, contract managers, agency and IHE teams, suppliers, and others who support procurement activities. The effort reaches more than 20 Executive Branch agencies and Institutions of Higher Education, along with a supplier community numbering in the thousands.
What will this mean for the people who support procurement?
The goal is to make procurement easier to navigate and support, with more intuitive tools, better-connected information and processes, improved visibility, and stronger reporting. As the project progresses, communications, training, and readiness activities will help people understand and prepare for changes to the way procurement work is supported.
How are agencies, IHEs, suppliers, and other partners involved?
Input from across Colorado is helping the project team understand how procurement works today and where there are opportunities for improvement. Agencies, IHEs, procurement professionals, suppliers, and other partners will continue to have opportunities to share their experience and help inform planning as the project moves forward.
How much has been decided about the future solution?
The overall direction and goals for modernization are established, but many implementation details are still being evaluated and refined. The project team will share confirmed information as decisions are made and planning progresses.
How can I stay informed and involved?
