The application of Change management to projects provides structure, clarity, and support to individuals as they process, understand, and learn the impacts of a change to their work environment.
Change management activities are being integrated throughout the project to support the COMPAS implementation and its initiatives for the state. By engaging with impacted stakeholders at an individual and organizational level, the COMPAS team will be better able to prepare users for this change through the development and delivery of bidirectional communication, tools and resources, and training.
By utilizing the ADKAR model, developed by Prosci, the implementation team is creating an environment in which individuals understand the goals of the project, how the new payroll software will impact them and their work, how to perform their tasks in the context of new business processes and utilizing the COMPAS application, and how to get ongoing support following the implementation.
Through the 5 outcomes of this model — awareness, desire, knowledge, ability, and reinforcement — users will be supported through the change at an individual level and contribute to the overall success of the COMPAS implementation and the achievement of intended business results at an organizational level.
The COMPAS team is working with stakeholders across the state and in all branches of Colorado government to understand how the COMPAS project will impact them, to regularly communicate updates, to prepare and deliver training, and to ensure organizational alignment throughout the project lifecycle. This includes conducting individualized touchpoints and listening sessions to gather feedback, distributing monthly newsletters, sharing information in biweekly office hours, and creating opportunities to engage in specialized working groups like the trail guides and trailblazers.
