Introductory assembly from Mr Mackay

Students will have an assembly delivered to them by Mr Mackay outlining the options process, along with key dates and events.

The options website will also go live on this date, this can be access through the 'GCSE Options 2024-26' tab of the school website. 

December: Tutor Sessions 

Form tutors will take students to a computer suite during Form Time during these day to allow students to make their choices for their subject taster sessions. Students will then be provided with a personalised timetable for Tuesday 24th.

December: Options Taster Sessions

Students will be able to 'sample' four different options choices during periods 1-5 on Tuesday 24th January. Students will sample a task and gain insights into the requirements and rigour of the different courses offered as choices. Once students have had the opportunity to sample these new subjects the options for will 'open'. 

4th January: Options Evening

Parents/carers and students are encouraged to attend our options eveningwhich will run from 17:30 - 19:30 on Thursday 4th January. This will include a talk by Mr Mackay which outlines the process, and how you can support your child/ren in making their option choices and will allow an opportunity for you to ask questions about the process.  You will also have an opportunity to speak to Head of Department to ask any questions you may have.

January-Feburary: Year 9 in person and digital Options Meetings

All students will have a 1-2-1 with a member of SLT to discuss their option choices, in addition to this, several blocks of time which will be available via our virtual parents evening reporting system, where the senior leadership team will be available for you to book slots to discuss any options queries with every year 9 student and their parents. The frequently asked questions page on the website will offer guidance as well. 

All SEND students will have a secure time slot with either our SENDCO Mrs Stewart, or a member of the SEN team, to discuss their child’s KS4 curriculum

Information on how these can be booked will be sent to you in January.

7th February: Year 9 Parents' Evening

Year 9 Parents' Evening will take place on the 7th of February, allowing parents the opportunity to speak to subject specific teachers, Mr Mackay will also be available to any any questions you may have. 

8th February: Choices Deadline

Students will need to have completed their option choices by 9am on the Bromcom Student app/VLE by this date. 

Summer Term: Allocation of Final Choices

During the latter part of the summer term (usually the end of June)  students will be notified of their allocated Options via email.  Students who may need to reconsider options due to subject clashes and/or over subscription will be asked to do so at this time. 

February and March: Important action for students

It is essential that students are regularly checking their student emails, as any important notices will be distributed in this way. Any notices will also be shared via this website and the student website, so students should ensure they engage with their emails and tutor sessions to ensure they are accessing all of the information.
