The Yaksha Prasna is the story of a riddle contest between Yudhishthira and a yaksha in the Hindu epic Mahabharata. It appears in the Vana Parva, and the story is set as the Pandavas end their twelve years of exile in the forest. While the five Pandavas lived their life in Exile as ordered by King Dhritarashtra after losing to a game of dice against the Kaurava Prince Duryodhana, a Brahman priest came by their hut asking their help to retrieve his holy Shami sticks that were carried away by a deer into the dense forest. As the five brothers stride in search of the deer they decide to quench their thirst from a river and are faced with Lord Yama's devious test.
