Advanced Placement (AP) courses offer high school students the opportunity to take college-level classes and exams while still in high school. These courses challenge students with rigorous content, critical thinking, and in-depth problem-solving that prepare them for success in post-secondary studies. By taking AP courses, students can earn university credit, stand out on college applications, and build valuable study and time management skills that strengthen their academic confidence.
AP Calculus is a college-level mathematics course that challenges students to explore advanced topics in differential and integral calculus. It builds on skills developed in Pre-Calculus 20, which is the required prerequisite. This course helps students strengthen their analytical reasoning and problem-solving abilities while preparing for university-level math and science programs. By taking AP Calculus, students may earn university credit or placement, giving them a strong academic advantage and confidence for future studies.
AP Art & Design is designed for highly motivated art students with strong skills, a passion for creative work, and a solid studio work ethic. Students should be eager to try new ideas, explore different ways of working, and understand that making art is an ongoing process that requires thoughtful, informed decision-making. Throughout the course, students will work alongside other artists, experiment with a variety of mediums and techniques, and develop a personal voice in their artwork. Learners will aim to perform at a college level by compiling an inquiry-based portfolio in Drawing, 2D Design, or 3D Design. In addition to instructor assessment, the portfolio will be submitted for external evaluation each May by the College Board - high scoring portfolios will earn a university credit. Students will also gain experience organizing and presenting their work for exhibition, helping them prepare for future artistic and academic opportunities.
