ALTERNATE EDUCATION (AE)
Alternative Education is a referral-based program that provides students with learning opportunities to develop skills to function independently at school, at home, and in the community. The program imbeds students' individualized learning goals and needs, functional academics, and work readiness skills into academic courses. Students take academic courses to earn alternative credits at the 18, 28 and 38 levels. Alternative credits are not valid for entry into post-secondary institutions. Elective courses are offered when appropriate to the interest and ability of the student. Career and Work Exploration courses are recommended electives that encourage community integration and transition.
