Many U.S. colleges require that potential undergraduate students submit standardized test scores as part of their application. Standardized tests provide a consistent way for a college to evaluate you and even compare you to other applicants across the country.
Each student should test according to their unique readiness and preparation, and fully understand their testing options.
The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is given on scheduled Saturday mornings and requires approximately 3 hours 45 minutes to complete. To register, see more information, practice questions, scoring guides, fee waivers, free downloads, etc. please visit http://www.collegeboard.org.
The SAT covers writing, critical reading and mathematics problem-solving.
There are a growing number of colleges (more than 800) that do not require standardized testing as part of the college admission application or give you the option to either submit test results or have your application reviewed without them. See Fairtest.org for a list of schools.
Students who test in the school setting may be able to take the college admissions tests with accommodations but there is an extensive application and approval process that must be done in advance. Please talk with your high school counselor at least 3 months in advance of a test date you are interested in taking.
Students who demonstrate financial need may qualify for testing fee waivers. SAT fee waivers are usually received in the Counseling Office by mid- to late-August. See your high school counselor to see if you qualify!
2025-2026 school year SAT's will be digital.
Please follow the directions below the testing schedule for information on downloading the BlueBook app
