All 11th grade students will take the PSAT/ NMSQT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) in October 2024.
Information will be provided in Fall 2024.
The PSAT/ NMSWT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is taken by students during October of their junior year. This test is offered on behalf of the College Board and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). This two-hour exam is similar to the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and measures critical reading, writing and math problem-solving skills. It is recommended for use in guiding juniors who plan to continue their education after high school.
Taking the PSAT/NMSQT is the first step to entering the scholarship programs administered by NMSC and can provide advance indication of college capability that can be used to make a wise, realistic choice of college. Publications that furnish additional information about the PSAT/ NMSQT and the scholarships administered by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation are available at http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/psat/about.html.
Scores will be able to be accessed by students via their College Board accounts in December once the College Board uploads them. Please be advised that not everyone's score is uploaded at the same exact time. The College Board has a rolling upload system so some may post earlier or later than others, even within the same school.
NOTE: The SHS Counseling Office does not have access to student College Board accounts. If you do not remember your log in information, please use the College Board system to reset your password.
