Outstanding Senior in Mathematics

Payton Richards

Payton took 2nd-Place once on the AMC (American Mathematics Competition), and won 3 other times during his time at Southeast Polk. As a senior, Payton qualified for the next level of competition, the AIME (American Invitational Mathematics Exam) which takes the top 2.5% of students across the country based on their AMC score. He is one of two students we have taken the AIME in the past 10 years at SEP.

He exhausted the entire math curriculum at SEP and took both AP Statistics and AP Calculus BC. In addition, Peyton took Calculus 3 and Introduction to Probability at Drake his senior year. Peyton was a great student in class who always challenged himself and questioned the "why" of math and tried to understand material on a deeper level.

Congratulations Payton!
