From EMS Director Jason Tyler, EMT-P
Scurry County EMS is striving to provide the best pre-hospital care to the citizens of Scurry County. In order to do this we need help and understanding from our citizens during this unprecedented time. The following Mitigation Policies that have been implemented are as follows:
All Public Relations (PR) and Education Events have been cancelled. This includes all outside trainings such as Stop The Bleed Classes, CPR, and First AID Classes.
Our EMS station has been closed to the public and only open to essential personnel.
We are cleaning and disinfecting all ambulances and our station more frequently to provide a clean and sanitized environment for our patients and crews.
We are reducing the amount of time the crews are exposed to each other in hopes to decrease and stop the possible spread of infection and/or COVID-19.
Our Infection Control Officer is monitoring all of our EMT's, Paramedics, and staff every 12 hours. Anyone with a temperature above 100.4 degrees will be sent home and monitored.
At this time Scurry County EMS does not have any employees that are ill or showing any signs and symptoms of COVID-19. SCEMS is always working hard to keep our staff, ambulances, and equipment safe and response ready when they are called into action.
Scurry County EMS is working with Cogdell Memorial Hospital staff and Scurry County Health Unit to make informed and good pre-hospital care plans for our citizens.
If you call 911 please tell the call taker/Dispatcher if you've been sick or around anyone that has been sick or with flu like symptoms. This will help all healthcare providers respond to your emergency with appropriate PPE and equipment to better care for your needs and protect our crews.
Scurry County EMS will begin wearing mask and gloves on every EMNS call; if the call warrants the crew will put on PPE (ie. gloves, mask, goggles, and gown.) Please don't let this alarm or offend you, we as the care giver are just going the extra mile in protecting you and our employee's from any possible spread of an infection.
Scurry County EMS is doing everything that we can to protect our staff and our patients so that we can provide safe quality patient care and transport. We ask that everyone in Scurry County do your part by following all recommended guidelines from CDC, State, and local officials. I am thankful that I live in a community that is willing to accept these changes in life so that we can fight COVID-19 and flatten the curve.
Please stay home, be safe, and pray that our community will get through the Pandemic and our Lord will heal our Land!
