Yearly Standards:
Proficiently and independently read and comprehend informational texts and nonfiction in a text appropriate to grade 8.
Read and understand a variety of literary selections appropriate to grade 8.
The Highly Proficient student can:
a. judiciously use punctuation to indicate a pause or break.
b. use an ellipsis to indicate an omission.
c. use correct spelling of unfamiliar and above-grade level words.
Produce clear and coherent writing that is appropriate to the task purpose, and audience.
Develop and strengthen writing by using the writing process.
Additional Standards:
Use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing and present the relationships between information and ideas efficiently as well as to interact and collaborate with others.
