One of its key features is the ability to adjust the reading level of the articles to match the proficiency of individual students, making it accessible for learners at different stages.
Log on to newsela.com to set up your account
Sign up: by clicking on "get free access" and then "get instant access".
Create a free account: by entering your email and choosing the option to get started if you don't have a previous account.
Select "I'm an educator": and provide your school information.
Access your account: to view the limited content and activities available with Newsela Lite.
What Newsela Lite Offers:
A new, leveled article each week: You get a new, timely article that can be adjusted to different reading levels.
Basic skill-building activities: There are some foundational activities to help students develop their skills.
Access to the Binder: You can use this feature to review student work and progress.
Steps for students to log in
A student's specific login method will depend on the system their teacher or school uses. A teacher will provide students with instructions to follow one of these paths.
With a class code
Go to newsela.com and click Sign In.
Click on your initials in the top right corner and select Settings.
Scroll down to the "Classes" section.
Enter the class code provided by your teacher and click Join class.
With a class link
Simply click the unique class link provided by your teacher.
You will be guided to either log in to your existing account or create a new one, which will automatically enroll you in the correct class.
