We have focussed on the story ‘Going on a Bear Hunt.’
The children have loved joining in with the words and doing the actions. They have acted the story out in the outdoor areas also including the in the Secret Garden. Some bears were actually found!
The children enjoyed drawing their own bear faces on the template.
We chose pages from the story to create the surroundings that the family had to walk through. We painted the colours that matched onto separate pieces of paper to bring together.
We had colours assosiated with grass, mud, forest and a cave.
We then found a range of materials in Nursery to help us to create our very own Bear Hunt tray.
We used the small world people to recreate the Bear Hunt Story.
"This is the Daddy bear".
The children also used the small world bears to categorise them according to colour and size. We even could put them in size order from small to large.
Sharing Elmer stories helped us to understand our differences and to learn how special we are.
We have been thinking about how we value each other’s differences and celebrate them during P.S.E.D. sessions. We have shared several Elmer stories which have really helped the children to develop their understanding. They have made a village Elmer, his cousin Wilbur and several grey elephants. The children engaged in colour mixing activities whilst doing this. They predicted which two colours they would need to make the colour they wanted.
A big thank you to everyone who supported us with our Harvest Festival and donated some food.
We hope you all enjoyed coming in to school and hearing our Harvest songs and service. We were absolutely thrilled to see how much food we received.
