We have all enjoyed a wonderful start to our festive preparations. The children have loved decorating the trees themselves, carefully choosing which decoration they wanted to add. We have overheard some excellent language whilst they have been doing so.
"I'm putting this tinsel right here"
Festive sewing’s, Christmas cards and Father Christmas lists have all been created. The Nursery looks amazing! So many members of staff from other year groups have complimented the sewings.
The children have made party hats and particularly enjoyed decorating their biscuit baubles. They used the decorations to make repeating patterns and counted them as they added each one.
We continue to promote our knowledge of patterns realising that patterns can be made anywhere and with anything, there's no limits!!
The children have also been promoting their reading skills with our topic books. They have been showing us how we follow the words on the pages to read the story.
The children have learned that just as we celebrate our birthdays, we all celebrate a very special birthday at this time of year.
At Christmas time we celebrate the birth of Jesus. We learn all about his birth through our Nativity story.
This year our Year 6 children brought us a hand knitted Nativity scene for us to keep.
We enjoyed looking closely at all of the characters and using our knowledge of the Nativity story, we could name them all.
It was then our chance to act out our Nativity story for all of our parents, carers and family members. Can you name all of the characters from the Nativity story? We enjoy dressing up in our Nativity story role play clothes.
We would like to wish all of our families a Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year. We are looking forward to seeing you all in January and welcoming in the New Year with all of the children.
