Counting with Toys 

Counting can easily be worked into anything your child is playing! Count tires on cars, trains on a track, blocks in a tower, or the number of times a figurine jumps. You can ask your child how many blocks he wants and then count them as you pass them to him. Request blocks from your child and encourage him to give you that amount. Help your child count correctly by counting together, having him repeat after you, having him touch or move each object, providing a partial verbal prompt (the first sound of the number, so /t/ for two), or offering a visual cue, such as holding up your fingers or by creating a counting board.
