DINOSAURS STUCK IN "MUCK"
This idea comes from:

A L W A Y S a fave! (Cornstarch is purchased in bulk around these parts!) Add dinosaurs to “muck” (cornstarch + water) for a sticky, hilarious, sensory explosion.
MATERIALS
Toy Dinosaurs
Cornstarch
Water
Large Containers (We have these and use them nearly every day in one way or another!)
DIRECTIONS
My favorite step is first: making the “muck!” Please do this step with your littles as it’s super fun to both observe and participate in. In your container add in cornstarch and water with a ratio of about 1 part water to 2 parts cornstarch. I always err on the side of caution and add the water slowly and gradually. If you add too much water then it will be soupy and liquidy and won’t work as best as it could. As you add the water mix with your hands! You will know it’s perfect when you can grab a handful of the “muck” and it will form a ball on your hands but the moment you stop moving your hands it will ooze right through your fingers.
Add in your dinosaurs and any fun accessories! In the photos here we just had dinosaurs on this day but we frequently add in plants, sticks, rocks, etc.
NOTES
We keep our “muck” for a week. We cover the top of the containers with a loosely fitting tray. Add a touch of water each day to rehydrate!
There is an easy way and a challenging way to clean this up. The challenging way is to clean it up right after you’re done playing when it is still wet and you’re scooping and it’s spilling and it’s splattering and it’s a mess. Ha! The easy way is to leave your container uncovered outside over the weekend. It will evaporate, be dry, and then you can just turn it over above a garbage can and it comes out easy breezy!
