About

Mark Rourke is an American comedian and actor who served as the second Vice President of SLOHS Performing Arts. He previously served as the Commissioner of Improv from 2021 to 2022.

Coming from an extensive history of stand-up performance as well as screen acting training, Rourke gained notability in 2021 when he made his live theatre debut as Benedick in SLOHS's twentieth anniversary revival of Much Ado About Nothing, a role which earned him the Iambic Pentameter Award for Best Actor in a Shakespeare Play.[1][2]

In fall 2021, Rourke was appointed Commissioner of Improv, as which he led both the Improv Department and the Improv A-Team. Over the 2021–2022 school year, he also was cast in three leading stage roles, including what would have been the company's first known character reprisal in history (alongside Linnaea Marks) in a canceled follow-up revival of Much Ado About Nothing.

Rourke was elected to the vice presidency of SLOHSPAC on May 24, 2022. He took office on August 18, 2022, becoming the first male vice president since 1965.
