Commissioner of Improv

The Commissioner of Improvisational Theatre, also known as simply the Commissioner of Improv, is the head of the SLOHS Performing Arts Department of Improvisational Theatre. The Commissioner of Improv is responsible for the coordination and direction of regular live improv shows.

The office was established on April 27, 2021 with the merging of Drama Club, Improv Team, and Iambic Pentameter. As the head of Improv, the commissioner position is essentially the successor to the Improv Team presidency. Commissioners are appointed in the fall to serve a term of one school year. There is no term limit; it has not been determined, however, if incumbent commissioners must reapply to serve additional terms. While Improv Team presidents were selected by their predecessors, interested candidates for the Improv commission go through an application process similar to that of other commissioner positions.

Aubrey O'Leary and Zoë Hendricks are jointly serving as the second and current Commissioners of Improv, assuming office on September 17, 2022.
