CAST

Emilia Gambucci, a senior, is thrilled to be a part of the cast of The Wizard of Oz ; she plays Dorothy. Emilia grew up in San Luis Obispo and has been involved in theatre since she was eight years old. She is also a highly involved dancer at Ryan's American Dance, takes vocal lessons, and plays four instruments. Some of Emilia's previous roles include Yvette in Clue, Mimi Marquez in RENT, LeFou in Beauty and the Beast, Small Alice and the March Hare in Alice in Wonderland, and Sour Kangaroo in Seussical. Emilia would like to thank her friends, family, dance and school teachers, and vocal instructor for supporting her throughout her entire high school experience. In June, Emilia will be graduating and hopes to pursue theatre for the rest of her life. The Wizard of Oz is Emilia's final high school production, and she can't wait to see what the future holds for the rest of the cast!

FRIDA VEGA

Scarecrow

Frida Vega is a freshman. Her previous work includes Annie "Annie" at Orcutt Community Theatre, Baby Bear "The Trial of Goldilocks", at Santa Maria Civic Theatre, The Magic Carpet "Aladdin Jr.", both Belinda and Martha Cratchit "A Christmas Carol" at the Great America Melodrama, as well as The Singing Telegram Girl in the fall production of "Clue". In her spare time, Frida likes to draw, sing, dance, and paint shoes. She is so excited to join the SLOHS Performing Arts Company. She hopes you enjoy the show!

Are you an experienced dancer, a well rounded singer, a professional actor? Yeah, neither is Mark, but at least this is his third production with SLOHS Performing Arts Company. He played Benedick in the online masterpiece of Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing" and Professor Plum in the stellar play, "Clue", thoroughly enjoying both. Mark, a junior, happily takes on new things with minor success rates. He actually now knows what the dance move ball-change is, to some extent. Jazz squares baffle him. He'd like to thank his family for their constant support from set building to feeding him dinner, and Ms. Eben for casting him as "Flying Monkey". Wait, what is he playing?

CARMEN JOINES

Cowardly Lion

The stage has always called her name. Carmen Joines has appeared in many productions over the years, from the SLO Rep theatre, to dance shows at the PAC. She would like to give a shoutout to all her friends who have supported her taking on this role, and for those who "always thought she looked like a lion".

ZOË BARTHOLOMEW

Glinda the Good Witch

Zoe, a senior, was part of several great productions which include: "RENT", "Addams Family", "Clue" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream". She has always had a love for the performing arts and is looking forward to her role as Glinda.

Wicked Witch of the West

Linnaea, a senior, is so stoked to be a part of this production! This is her third production with SLOHS Performing Arts Company. She previously played Beatrice in "Much Ado About Nothing" and Wadsworth in "Clue." In addition to theatre, Linnaea loves art, makeup, and graphic design. She's also a 4-year varsity athlete on the SLOHS softball team.

LINDSAY SMITH

The Wizard / Professor Marvel

A junior at SLOHS, Lindsay has spent many many hours in this theatre, as well as others around town. After years of acting in such roles as Mrs. White (Clue)  and shows such as Macbeth, The Little Mermaid, Jr (2019), and Rent. Smith serves as the current president of the SLOHS Performing Arts Company. On the rare occasion she is not busy with theatre, she loves to read, listen to music, and draw. She hopes you enjoy the show, and warns you to beware the man behind the curtain...

Uncle Henry / Munchkin Mayor

Marcel is a very ambitious actor in his roles as the Mayor of Munchkinland and Uncle Henry. He has made great progress in all areas of theatre learning, in and out of school, which he hopes to apply in his first debut. He also would like to thank his friends and family for their confidence in him. He gained great support from family and friends to enroll in the arts. He is creative as well as artistic and has been working on a fashion line. With fashion, Marcel enjoys using his mind to expand his designs.

Troy is in his first show with SLOHS - In fact, it is his first show ever. He is so thankful for all of the people he has gotten to meet in this show and making such a positive influence in an otherwise mediocre year. He is excited to continue to work with SLOHS Performing Arts Company in the future.

Emily is very excited to be back performing with SLOHS! You may know her as Miss Scarlet from Clue or that one girl from TNN. However, if you lived in Bakersfield in the early-mid 2010's, you might know her as the Drink Me bottle from "Alice in Wonderland" or as the actual tornado from her first time in "The Wizard of Oz", when she was 11. Other notable performances include The Lost BoY (Skunk) from "Peter Pan" and the baker from "Beauty and the Beast". Along with theater, Emily also loves to dance and watch reality TV shows until she emotionally can't stand it anymore. Emily welcomes everyone to the Wonderful Land of Oz, and hopes you enjoy the show.

Flannery enjoyed working the first production this year "Clue" as the stage manager and chief of police. Last year, Flannery was in "The Party Hop" and "Much Ado About Nothing". Outside of the theatre, she enjoys art in the forms of painting and drawing, as well as dancing. She would like to thank her friends and family for always being supportive of her theater endeavors, especially Owen and Piper who have to listen to her and Emilia aimlessly talk about jitterbugs and crows with no context (you will understand soon!!) She hopes you enjoy the show! :)

STELLA TABUENCA

Miss Gulch

Stella Tabuenca is an American actress and a junior at SLOHS. She is making her SLOHS Performing Arts Company debut as Almira Gulch, the dog hating neighbor. XAVIER CLEMENTS

Emerald City Gatekeeper

XC is super excited for their first musical ever, and second production at SLOHS. Previously, they played the role of The Watchman in "Much Ado About Nothing." In addition to plays at SLO Repertory Theatre, they also sung in the Central Coast Youth Chorus for numerous years and gained their dance experience as a part of the Core Dance Company.

AVA WALSH

Winkie General

Ava Walsh, who may or may not be a senior, is geeked to be in this production. In her free time, she is an avid wrestlemania participant, as well as being a five time kidney donor. Walsh has also been in SLOHS such as "The Addams Family" and "Clue", as well as multiple Shakespeare productions. If she graduates high school, she hopes to experience the void to its fullest.

Jamie is performing in his second show with SLOHS Performing Arts Company, the first being 24 Hour Musical. He's grateful to be a part of this show and excited for more to come. He would like to thank his family for driving him to and from rehearsals, and the directors for being great with everyone. He has had a lot of fun, and will be sad to see the play end.

AUBREY O'LEARY

Ensemble

This is AUbrey's first show with SLOHS, although they have been in a production of "The Phantom Tollbooth" and many other small productions at her synagogue. Outside of theater, Aubrey loves to sing and write their own original songs. She plays a variety of instruments and is part of the SLOHS band, playing the clarinet. Aubrey is currently teaching herself piano and electric guitar.

CREATIVE TEAM

NOELLE EBEN

Director / Choreographer

Thank you so much for attending the SLO High Performing Arts Company's production of The Wizard of Oz. We are delighted to have you with us as we put on our first musical in three years! I can't think of a better way to renew our love of music and dance than a visit to the Emerald City. This beloved story takes us all on a nostalgic trip as we watch these characters journey forward in search of what they feel they're missing. Unknowingly, they put their faith in the Wizard while we realize they've found their brains, their heart, their courage by being together. And home was never lost, it was only temporarily out of reach. This show has brought us back to the place we love; these young performers and artists have created a home in this theatre together. I couldn't be more proud.

This monumental show would not have been possible without the help of the incredible families of Oz, our SLO High team, and our generous donors. My heartfelt thanks go out to all of the cast, crew, and individuals who worked tirelessly to bring this production to life. Our Company thanks you for being here and supporting the arts in our community. To Oz!

LYNNLY SAINSBURY

Technical Crew Director

As you travel with us to Oz, sit back and enjoy the creative work of the stage, costume, and technical crew. While dressed in all black, working to remain unseen, this team works each and every "scene" with tremendous dedication. The details hinge on these backstage stars. In their third production this year, the crew continues to build amazing productions. From the ideas to the design to the creation, this team loves each other as they support the performers. They literally sweat over each and every color choice and pay attention to each minute detail. Enjoy their beautiful, professional quality work as you twist, fly, and click through this magical show!

Congratulations, stage crew. You did it again! Topnotch job!
