Occurrence: Monthly
Date & Time: All month long
Description: Do you have a collection that you would like to show off? Every month at the library we display patrons' collections for all to see. If you are interested in having your collection displayed, you can email the library at ipl@ipl.org or come to the library and speak to someone at the front desk. If your collection is chosen, we will have it stored in our display cases near the reference desk. Don't worry if your collection isn't chosen, we will save it for the following month. Collections can tie in with our monthly themes or not - up to you!
Staffing: 1 library staff member to manage emails and put the displays up each month.
Budget: n/a
Occurrence: Weekly
Date & Time: Saturdays @ 10:00am-11:00am.
Description: Studies have shown that library programs aimed at children and their caregivers help families create positive connections with the library for years to come (Fasick & Holt, 2013) and we here at IPL hope we can do that for our patrons. We recognize that a lot of our programming happens during the workday, which makes it challenging for working caregivers to participate. We are proud to host our weekly Family & Friends storytime. Similar to our weekly storytimes, we will read stories, sing songs, and have interactive activities for children and their caregivers. Come join us on Saturday and get to know other families in our community!
Staffing: 1 librarian or library assistant to run storytime.
Budget: n/a (all materials used for activities have been purchased in prior years).
Occurrence: Monthly
Date & Time: 1st Friday of the month @ 5:00pm-7:00pm
Description: Do you like board games or card games? If so, then game night is for you. IPL has lots of games to choose from - come play with your friends, your family, or come solo and make some new friends. The library will offer light refreshments and patrons are welcome to checkout games using their library cards and bring them home (please note: games have a shorter checkout period and cannot be renewed).
Staffing: 1 library staff member to assist with game setup and snacks.
Budget: $50 for snacks and sodas.
