October's Theme: Halloween
BOO! Join us this month for all things creepy and crawly. We'll have spooky (and candy) inspired themes this month - costumes encouraged!
Date & Time: Tuesday, October 10 @ 3:00pm - 4:00pm
Description: Why wait until December to make gingerbread houses when we can make spooky haunted houses? We will have graham crackers, frosting, and candy to construct and decorate your haunted houses. If spooky things aren't your thing, we will have non-Halloween themed decorations to make your castles, fairy houses, or library replicas to life. If you have dietary restrictions, feel free to bring your own decorations as well.
Staffing: 2 library staff members to set up and to assist with building.
Budget: $50 for candy building supplies.
Date & Time: Saturday, October 28 @ 2:00pm - 4:00pm
Description: Bring your pumpkin to IPL and join us in a carving party! All you need to bring is a pumpkin; the library will provide carving tools and patterns. All ages are welcome, but since carving tools are involved, we don't recommend this for smaller children; younger kids are welcome to come and hang out and eat candy!
Staffing: 2 library staff members to run the event and to help with clean up.
Budget: $15 for pumpkin carving kits and patterns.
Come guess how many spiders are in the jar! Winner takes home the jar contents and a book.
If you are unable to visit the library to guess in person, a picture of the jar and its contents is posted on IPL's Facebook page, and guesses can be submitted using our guessing form found here.
Good luck!
