Morkendaine Dungeon

by Jennell Jaquays

This obscure scenario was published in THE DUNGEONEER #9 in early 1979. This was the first issue of THE DUNGEONEER that was published by Judges Guild. Jaquays is much more well known for authoring the Judges Guild modules Dark Tower and the Caverns of Thracia.

I've included Morkendaine Dungeon here because it is for 1st and 2nd level characters, and is for OD&D rather than AD&D.

The scenario is 14 pages long, with two and half pages of maps.

Trivia

The scenario shares a few stylistic similarities with the Holmes Sample Dungeon: The dungeon was created by a magic-user excavating in his cellars (as with Zenopus), and the rooms in the first dungeon level are labeled alphabetically.

Kenmeister suggested on the OD&D Discussion forums using this adventure as the start an "all-Jaquays" game:

Morkendaine Dungeon

Caverns of Thracia

Book of Treasure Maps scenarios

Night of the Walking Wet

Dark Tower
