Religion’s Age Old Humbug & Hypocrisy

Of all the myriad of Religions that beset the World there are 3 that remain at the core, and they all stem from 1 Religious Source Abraham. Such that they are all 3 categorised as Abrahamic Religions.

Religions Judaism; Christianity; Islam,

Have 1 common Religious source or origin.

Abraham: Both Jews and Christians use this name.

Ibrahim: Muslims use this name.

But it is the same religious character, and all 3 religions agree on the same religious Origin Story.

All 3 emanating from the same source.

BUT Practically None of them will openly admit to it, with political & religious 'Leaders' preferring instead to treat each other as 'The Old {Or Natural} Enemy' Waging WAR instead of PEACE

Religion as ever misused for political purposes.

As I get older I am left with the persistent Question,

“Does humanity actually possess the capacity to learn from its actions?”

Since time immemorial people have sought power over others, and the more

ruthless among them have used any means to convince others to follow them.

As societies developed individual’s like these have had greater opportunities to

actually achieve power, indeed this development has been marked by the rise of such characters. This is just some of the worst historical examples: Attila the Hun; Genghis Khan; Franco; Mussolini; Hitler; Stalin; Pol Pot.

Tragically to the ultimate detriment of ALL humanity, the development of all of the globe’s societies are replete with them, bringing war and pestilence in their wake. Religion has arisen as a ‘Need’ to enable humanity to make Sense of ‘Nonsense’ that which apparently defied ‘logic’. People inevitably asked

questions of their existence like “Who am I?” “Why am I here?”

And they sought answers from wherever they could find them, and from people who may know, who appear to be ‘Wise’. As with politics so with religion they prove fertile breeding grounds for, unscrupulous people seeking power and privilege. And have found natural havens there for their own greed and avarice. In the earliest societies the head of the Tribe or Clan the Chieftains found it expedient to appoint someone to be a permanent Holy or Wise Man, to be the 'Holder' of the Clans Spiritual Wisdom. Remnants of such societies still exist worldwide, such a person may be known as a Shaman. Whole religions emanated from such sources.This proved very convenient for any Chieftain faced by an awkward question, simply pass them on to the Sage for Guidance or Enlightenment. It also proved very useful when a Chieftain wanted the Clan to do something that may prove unpopular. All that was necessary was to ensure that the Shaman was 'On Message', and to assure the Clan that it was the Will of God, after all the Shaman had endorsed the necessity of it.

A wonderfully comic expression of all this Religious Bumf, is to be found in the works of the English author Douglas Adams. 1 Example of this is in the novel Mostly Harmless in Chapter 13, where our hero Arthur Dent is stranded on the planet Lamuella. The planets inhabitants worship Almighty Bob, the High Priest is entitled Old Thrashbarg. This is a primitive society where folks gather round the fireside, to listen to Old Thrashbarg recount the Stories of the past year that he has been rigorously rehearsing. Old Thrasbarg has to reinterpret these Tales every time a new and hitherto unknown phenomenon occurs, such as the arrival of say yet another spaceship. Old Thrasbarg describes Almighty Bob when asked as 'Ineffable' or when pushed "Unknowable, Indescribable, Unutterable, not to be Known or spoken about".

HISTORY

These 3 Abrahamic Religions 'Origin Dates' are around 2,000 + years ago and they emanated during the Reign of the Roman Empire. From a geographical Region known as the Province of Judea. Briefly the Map & Link indicated below give an overview of the Regions History, sufficient to my task.

The Roman Province of Judea

The Roman Empire extended to the occupation of this entire area, depicted on the above map. This is the essential 'Birth Region' of all of the Abrahamic Religions. As seen this area included and encompassed the country of, Judea an essentially Jewish State governed by its ruler Herod. Who was made or 'Anointed King' by the governing Roman Senate, thus Judea is a Vassal State of the Roman Empire.

Demigods of ALL religious and political persuasion have always plundered the religious archives for symbolic references to justify their utterances and actions, one leaders Crusade being another’s Jihad.

Nazism/Fascism

The natural heirs of Christian/Judaic Capitalism

Nazi & Fascist ideology is a natural extension of that of Capitalism. The spurious consideration is that as the consequences of Nazism are essentially 'Evil', then it must be some form of aberration and can't possibly bear any relation to polite society. Whereas of course they are but natural progressions of one another, they simply take the precepts of Capitalism to their illogical conclusion and you arrive at Fascism.

NAZI GERMANY

These attitudes and actions inflicted, on the people of Nazi Germany in the 1930’s and 1940’s. Are but the extreme manifestation of the policies carried out, in political regimes the world over since time immemorial. Unto more recent times in the alleged, Cradle of Bourgeois Democracy the USA.

USA

Presidents George Bush Senior and Junior and Ronald Reagan espoused the litany of ‘The Evil Empire’ relating to those un-godly beings hell bent on bringing about Armageddon. Their colourful rhetoric was couched in

W.A.S.P. {White Anglo Saxon Protestant} terminology, was squarely aimed principally at those non Christian Islamic nations, Iraq and Iran. Here we have all too typical examples of world politicians, set on gaining the moral high ground. These Rulers using Christian biblical references to indicate their being, the prime upholders of Christianity. Setting forth on The Crusade before the Heathen hordes.

However much these western politicians, love to strut and posture as being “Defenders of Democracy”. They are merely Mirroring the equally inflammatory rhetoric, of the Islamic leaders. Such has been used currently by the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is simply attempting to do the same thing in relation to his own religion Islam. But non of this is remotely new simply a tired turgid re-run of history. Winding the clock back to the 11th Century of the Christian calendar. We have the prime example. The 'Crusades' the Papal War against Islam, where the 2 religions Christianity and Islam, seemed on a collision course of Mutually Assured Destruction. But BOTH have survived the impact, each of them simply embellishing their own 'History' and religious canon. With their own religious Myths and Fairytales.
