TRADES UNIONS
The overwhelming history of Trades Unions is one of Reform and not Revolution, from their inception their purpose was simply to get representation for workers with their employers to be able to discuss and seek redress for difficulties incurred in employment, nothing more nothing less.
I’ll discuss the background history of society in greater detail in further related blogs for now I’ll simply suffice with a précis.
Societies development was as much a matter of evolution through its various ages Stone Age; Bronze Age; Iron Age being labels masking huge transformations spanning thousands of years.
Feudalism essentially the rule by Monarchy developed out of these overlapping Ages. Monarchs ruled the entire ‘Kingdom’ with their ‘Managers’ the Barons and assorted Landed Gentry ‘Managing’ it for them in return for Power and Privilege. As non of them were actually prepared to get their hand dirty they needed people to graft for them, those that did were considered as the surplus population only necessary if they served the interests of the Monarchy, if they could be put to use for the Monarchs benefit on their estates or fighting their wars so much the better if not then they may as well starve.
