Women Redefining of Milford will meet on Monday, October 12, at Golden Hills of Milford, at 7:00 pm.
This month we will be collecting warm clothes that will be distributed to the Bridgeport Relief Agency.
Please bring in any warm clothes in good condition that you can spare to keep others warm this winter. Blankets and puffs you no longer use are also welcome.
Our guest speaker will be Julianne Barrett who will present a program on "Long Island Sound and Climate Change."
According to Julianne, the presentation will explore current and predicted climate change impacts for Connecticut over the next 100 years, information and tools that are available, and adaptation strategies to improve our resilience. Storms Irene and Sandy showed just how vulnerable coastal Connecticut is to damage from storms and tidal inundation. The impacts of climate change on municipalities is likely to result in heavier downpours, more vulnerable beaches and dunes, and increases to the land and infrastructure that could be inundated by rising sea levels and riverine flooding. These events challenge communities to come up with adaptation strategies to deal with the impacts from climate change, and many communities are working to address this challenge.
