On each of the Isles of the Three Sisters there is a Temple where one of the Holy Sisters lives. The Three Holy Sisters were chosen by the Gods as their voice in the mortal world. People often make pilgrimages to the Three Isles to see the Sisters because each one is a gifted soul reader. The first can read your soul's past lives, the second can read your remaining debt to Shan and the third sister is said to be the most powerful of the three, though no one knows what it is she can do aside from give someone their third name. None of the Three Sisters have ever spoken a false prophecy. Each one is able to pierce into the truth of matters within their field.
No one knows how old the Sisters are, nor much about them. They are mysterious women who never leave their islands, even to talk to each other. Legend has it that the Sisters were born from an Opal that split into three pieces when A'a came to the world and stepped upon it, breaking it. A'a was said to be overcome with guilt at breaking the beautiful stone, that he kisses each piece, breathing life into them. Few even know their names, most simply refer to them as Una, Secunda and Tercia. Insiders know the names of the three sisters. Bechira, while the second sister on the pilgrimage, is the eldest of the Three Sisters, followed by Chezona and finally Neviah who is the sister who grant pilgrims their third name.
What is known for certain about the Three Sisters is that they are triplets of uncompromising beauty. Those who have caught a glimpse of them have all seen their ideal of beauty in them. Some people speculate that they are Changelings, shifting their appearance to suit the tastes of those who come to see them.
They each have several servants who provide them with fresh food and maintain the upkeep of the temples. These servants also see to the needs of the pilgrims who visit the islands. They provide them with shelter, food and guidance upon the Isles.
Aside from normal servants, they each have four inner servants who are marked by the three sashes they wear: one of white, one of blue and one of gold. The inner servants hide their faces behind their veils so none can look upon their face. It is exceedingly rare that one of the inner servants should leave the Isles and they can only do so by the leave of the Sister who they care for. These are the only servants who care for the Sisters directly, acting as hand maids and confidants to them. The inner servants are always women.
The Ageless
To be a servant of the Holy Sisters, you must be born on the Divine Day or be born to a pair of servants who were born on the Divine Day on one of the islands. Because of this, there are not many servants. It is considered a great honor to be sent to the Isles of the Three Sisters as a servant. To be born on the Divine Day means that your day of birth has no name. It also means that you only have a birthday once every 12 years. This, of course, doesn't stop them from aging, but it does usually prevent them from gaining a 12 Year name. People born on the Divine Day are often referred to as the Ageless.
The True Ageless
There is a legend that the Sisters are True Ageless. The legend says that to be one of the True Ageless one must be born on the Divine Day by the blood of two people born on the Divine Day. The True Ageless are said to reach the age of maturity, then they stop aging. These poeple cannot die from natural causes. The legends say that these people are truly cursed. According the the myth, anyone who is truly ageless committed such a terrible sin in their past life that they are not allowed to die except by the will of the Gods. It is only through ever-living that they can make up for the sin of their past life.
The True Ageless are said to have such an imbalanced Ha-Kan, that they will never complete their Hi-Ir-Ron. Their souls are said to be forever imbalanced and it will take them all of eternity to be able to die and move on.
Because of this legend, those born on the Divine Day go out of their way to make sure they do not concieve in the time when they could give birth near the Divine Day. They see those of the True Ageless as not only cursed, but also pitiful. They are people who must endure suffering byond reckoning- they must see all of their loved ones age and die and they must go on trying to make up for the unseen sins of their past.
