The Emerald Sword (Fire)
The blade of this sword is made from solid Emerald. The pommel and handle of the sword is made from dragon bone and fused to the blade by dragon fire. It is said to be stronger and sharper than any known metal. The sword takes on size appropriate to its wielder. The sword was first wielded by High Queen Tama. The blade turned to emerald the moment it cut through the neck of Commander Troy Regent and Tama solidified her rule over the land. It wasn't until after the blade changed that Queen Tama was able to have children. It is said that her courage in battle and passion for her country, her people and the Gods is what blessed the blade and caused Gira to change the blade to Emerald.
The sword is sentient and only accepts people it deems strong enough (physically, mentally and spiritually) to bestow the powers imbued upon it by previous holders of the sword. The sword can communicate with its chosen wielder. Should the sword be held by an unworthy person, it becomes too heavy for the person to lift and turns their skin black. The sword can be held by people it deems worthy, but not good enough to pass it's abilities onto. If the blade touches someone who is cursed by the gods, the place it touches will turn black and gangrene. It is impossible to heal the infection and often the person dies if the spot is not able to be amputated.
The Ice Spear of Arin (Water)
The name of this weapon is misleading. It is not made of Ice, but rather the tip is made from the relic known as the Ice Diamond. The shaft of the spear is currently made from decorated icewood, but the shaft is replaceable, the spear head is what makes the weapon holy. The Ice Diamond was found on the Isle of the First Holy Sister. Her Temple was built upon the spot where it was found. As the relic was being transported to the capitol, the ship sunk. Twelve days later, a passenger of the ship was seen walking toward the shore upon the surface of the water holding a spear with the Ice Diamond acting as the spearhead.
The Spear head picks it wielder. Should it decide the person is unworthy of wielding, it will remove itself from the shaft it is attached to. The person will become unable to pick up the spearhead because as they try to touch it, it becomes fluid, their hand passing through. The spear can be used to discern truth from people because it will not harm the innocent. The Spearhead will turn to water against them becoming unable to cut. If a cursed person is touched by the blade, they develop hideous, puss-filled boils wherever they are touched.
The Dagger of Dawn and Dagger of Twilight (Earth)
The Daggers of Dawn and Twilight are a matching pair of daggers. The handles of both are made from Sphinx bones. The blades are made from stone from a meteorite. The Blade of Dawn comes from one have of the meteor and it a milky white color. The Blade of Twilight it made from the other half of the meteor and it a dark translucent black color. Because the meteor was colored as it was, it is believed that it was sent to Amb by Minol. The city of Mossgrove was built in the crater is formed when it landed.
Both the Dagger of Dawn and the Dagger of Twilight must agree upon the wielder for their attributes to be imparted to their wielder. The Dagger of Dawn creates a field of light if the user wishes it and the Dagger of Twilight can create a field of darkness. If a cursed person is cut by either of the blades, their skin begins to grow hard scales. The Scales will spread until their body is covered. Eventually, the scales will solidify, rendering the person immobile.
The Cordless Bow (Wood)
The Cordless Bow looks like any other bow, only it does not have a string nor any place for a string to be placed. It is made from a dark wood without any decoration. The wood is smooth and well worn. The Bow was formed from the helm of the first trade ship (Suteja's Windrider) that sailed the oceans trading goods. When the ship sank off the coast of Arascon, a single plank washed ashore, the rest of the ship disappearing forever. The maker of the bow entered into contract with Suteja. In trade for his sight, hearing and voice, Suteja promised that he would have a bow he would never have to restring or fletch arrows for.
When the chosen wielder holds the bow, they can pull magical arrows on the unseen string. The wielder can choose from a plain arrow, a fire arrow or a vine arrow. A plain arrow will always hit its mark. A fire arrow produces a flaming arrow. A vine arrow causes vines to spring up where the arrow lands. If a cursed person should be hit by any of the arrows or tries to pick up the bow, they are struck blind, mute and deaf.
The Dragon Chain (Air)
The Dragon Chain is the oldest of the Holy Weapons. It is unknown where it came from or what it is even made of. The chain is about 6 feet long when left inert and is a pale blue color. On each end of the chain, dark blue weighted balls are attached that change shape according to the wielder's desire. In the center of the chain there is a single link in the form of a Dragon biting its tail.
For many years, the Dragon Chain was kept in the Temple of Sosen, unused by anyone. Some believe that it is Sosen's personal weapon because the weighted balls transform according to the users invention. The chain is also flexible in length, stretching up to 10 feet in length. The Dragon Chain is very particular about who it allows to use it, if it deems someone unworthy, it simply disappears from their hand and appears on the ground ten feet away from them. If a cursed person is hit by one of the balls (in any form), it causes a wound that will not heal.
The Rainbow Rapier (Illusion)
The Rainbow Rapier is a thin sword with a light, flexible blade made from an opalescent material. When light shines through it, it acts as a prism, creating rainbows within the blade. The handle is made from changeling bone wrapped in multi-colored cloth that never rots or wears out. The hand guard is made from a cloth similar to the wrapping and stretched over carved bone. Legend has it that this is Aviva's rapier, left on Amb by accident during one of her many mischief causing adventures.
The Rainbow Rapier cannot kill children with a pure heart. The blade can bend at the will of its master to strike opponents, catching them off guard. The Rapier turns to colorful cloth when someone who is unworthy tries to wield it. If a cursed person tries to touch it or is hit by it, that person's skin changes color – constantly, for the rest of their life. They also can only see things as if through a kaleidoscope.
The Scythe of Destiny (Divination)
The scythe appeared in the hand of the first pilgrim who walked to the top of the Stone Tower of Alos. Many believe that it is the Blade of Alos and call it such. The scythe is made from one solid piece of black steel. Upon the handle are red lightning bolts that glow when danger approaches.
The blade only imparts it's attributes to people it sees as having clarity of vision and a fighting spirit. The scythe doesn't let itself get close enough to someone it deems unworthy to pick it up. The scythe acts as a signpost, pointing it's wielder in the direction of their destiny. When the wielder places the end of the handle on the ground, the scythe blade spins around landing on the direction that leads them to their destiny. When a cursed person is hit by the blade, that person the wound begins to steam as if on fire, boiling the blood.
The Quicksilver Whip (Time)
The Quicksilver Whip looks like nothing more than a plain, silver rod. When in the hand of its chosen wielder, one end opens and a liquid whip is forms of varying length and thickness. The whip is made from quicksilver and can become so thin that it is invisible to the naked eye. The whip was born from a breed of caterpillar known as Kar's Spider-Moth that lives only on the Tree of Life. One of the caterpillars formed a cocoon and instead of transforming into a Spider-Moth, it turned into the whip and landed in the lap of the 12th Pilgrim to tie a white thread to the tree.
The whip will not open in the hands of someone it does not consider worthy. The whip itself is under the control of the user who can change its length and width by force of will alone. If a cursed person is hit by the whip, their hair will fall out and their skin begins to flake off.
Vermi's Stone Hand Axes (Animals)
The heads of this pair of axes are made from plain, grey stone. The blades are sharp, but look dull and chipped with age. They are tied with dragon string to two brittle looking hafts. While brittle looking, the hafts are virtually unbreakable. In center of Redbend is a holy rock that could not be moved. One day, it looked like two branches had grown through it. It was many years before anyone could remove the branches, when they did, the pair of axes emerged from the holy rock.
When someone unworthy tries to hold the axes they become embedded themselves in the nearest rock. The axes are good as hand to hand weapons, but also are perfectly balanced for throwing weapons. When thrown, they return to the hand of their master after reaching their target. When they strike someone who is cursed, stone splinters grow out from the flesh, constantly growing in and out of their skin.
The Steel Cape of Shan (Protection and Blessings)
Of the Ten Holy Weapons, this one is considered the hardest to master. It acts as weapon, shield and armor. The strangely light cape is made from a combination of finely woven steel threads and long steel scales. It flows like fabric, but can also be stiff and sharp. This weapon was bestowed upon Gavin Toril by Shan during the Battle that ultimately led to him becoming High King.
The Cape has razor like scales that can be used to slash opponents should the wielder render them extended (similar to claws). The entire cape can be rendered hard or fluid. It always protects the wielder from attacks from behind. It is impossible for anyone other than the chosen to wear the cape because it is rendered immovable and solid when in the hands of anyone save for the chosen. When the Steel Cape of Shan wounds someone who is cursed, it removes their curse (including those rendered undead).
