(Tony Casas) Currently counseling on two major bankruptcy cases, including one where the Firm is counsel to the trustee of a major patent law firm that dissolved in 2009.
(Greg Kerr) Representing the plaintiff in a dispute with between the partners in a joint venture over the proceeds of a multi-million dollar judgment in a patent infringement lawsuit.
(Rob Rossi and Chris Dean for Stevens Institute of Technology) Represented a university focused on engineering and technology in connection with the commercialization of patents and inventions through the formation of limited liability companies and other corporate entities owned by the university and the inventors. Represented these portfolio companies in the negotiation of venture capital investments and debt funding. Represented the university in numerous commercial arrangements involving university owned technology, including joint research arrangements between the university and private sector businesses and patent license agreements.
(Chris Dean) Represented seller in the sale of a number of patents and patent applications related to a method of predicting numerical time series.
(John Driscoll, Scott Matthews for Avea Iletsim Hizmetleri AS) Counsel to a major mobile phone provider in Turkey, in a patent infringement dispute pending in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit involving numerous mobile phone companies in the USA and worldwide.
(John Driscoll for New World Capital Group) Counsel to a private equity firm, including the review of existing patents and conducting freedom to operate searches. Based on our patent review, the client makes its investment decisions.
(John Driscoll for Trellis Management and market leader “Apple”) Counsel to an Italian venture capital company, which is patenting an image and video compression technology in the USA, on various matters including diligence associated with potential conflicts related to the acquisition of technology that may compete with a widely known market leader’s patents.
(Ed Shea) Negotiated and prepared many joint venture and license agreements for patents, tradements and trade secrets throughout the United States and many other nations and also did the work to obtain government approvals of license agreements and payment of royalties in nations where approvals are required, including (but not limited to): Germany, France, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and other nations in Europe and other nations such as Australia, Brazil. Canada, Colombia, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
(David Orlin for DeBeers Industrial Diamond which became Element Six and the counterparty, General Electric) Negotiated and drafted a number of patent license agreements across various countries between our client, an internationally recognized industrial diamond mining and distribution company, and General Electric.
