The endless river traffic of the Mississippi is the main attraction at this campground. The RV sites are easy access pull-thrus with 30 or 50 amp power, city water, and sewer. Across the river is unspoiled Tennessee flood plain and just one bend upstream is the Memphis skyline.
First sunrise of the trip.
Site 75 facing the river leading up to Memphis.
Today's travel took us from Arkansas through Tennessee onto Mississippi and finally landing in Alabama. Forkland Campground with 42 electric/water sites is located in a beautiful wooded area on the northern shore of Demopolis Lake, the largest lake on the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway. The Waterway consists of six lakes with a total length of 457 miles and 39,800 surface acres of water.
Site 12 is a nice pull-thru with a view of the water below.
Looks like fall outside, but it's actually
We are revisiting this campground on the bay to see friends we made at the beginning of this year. The view, the people, and laughter are some much fun. This RV park offers waterfront views and sites with beautiful sunsets.
Upon arrival and parking in site 11, we were greeted with this view from the RV door looking across the bay. This site is a pull-in site which is perfect for toy-haulers.
Susan, Mike and us...hunting afternoon sun while enjoying each other's company.
Sunset from the pier.
This year we had the Christmas Glogg Swedish party and the Bushwacker party.
Out for a motorcycle ride, lunch and views at The Gulf at Orange Beach restaurant, and a stop at Flora-bama for a Bushwacker... which was not nearly as good as our camp host at Bay Breeze!😅🤣😂🥂
Last year's George has been replaced by the new George.
At Ho-Hum you’ll enjoy an unpretentious RV retreat featuring oceanfront views, a pier & a shoreline of fossilized shells. This area known as the Forgotten Coast includes more than 250 miles of pristine, uncrowded, sugar sand beaches. From St. George Island to Carrabelle to Dog Island to Alligator Point, all of Franklin County’s beaches are breathtakingly beautiful but each one is unique.
We stayed in full hook up site #37 with a view of Saint George Sound .

Christmas day view. The park was peaceful and quiet.
This campground is strategically placed to offer views of the surrounding landscape and close proximity to local spots rich in history and adventure. We stayed G102 (Sunset View Premium Site Full Hookup) a pull through site near the marshy creek area and away from A1A. You can also grab a meal and drinks at Ebb Tide Poolside Bar & Grill.

This morning I had the pleasure of watching this little guy, otter, sun himself on the end of the dock.
Visiting with friends, celebrating the new year, and planning stops for this trip and a possible summer trip.
You can never go wrong with the Banana Foster dessert at Caribbean Jacks.
New Year's Eve at the Beach Bucket.
Happy 2025 from Saints & Sinners!
The gator got'em at River Grill - Ormond Beach
Fun in the sun after going to the Dayton RV show.
Went to Tiki Docks in Port Orange for some afternoon shenanigans.
Tiki Docks did not disappoint, we shared ahi tuna with lime yum-yum sauce, a juicy blue cheese burger, lobster rolls, and cheesy shrimp bruschetta. 😋
Viisitng the Boot on Main Street in preparation for Bike Week.
Leaving our mark on The Boot" on Main Street, Daytona.
Dancing and singing around fire.
Chilling in the afternoon sun.
Meanwhile at home there is quite an ice and snow storm. That cold weather blast is supposed to come to Daytona as well but with a lot less impact (cool temps: lows high 30's & highs 50's).
About a week before Thor passed - This is how excited he was about New Year's Eve. RIP 1/8/2025. The love of Thor and Freya console us and the memories we enjoyed with them mend our wounded hearts. ♥️💕
Within 5 months we have lost both kitties to the rainbow 🌈 bridge. Thor was 21 and Freya was nearly 21 years old. They have traveled with us from the first weekend, October 2003, (MIZZOU Football Homecoming Tailgate) we adopted them. They have seen Alaska (3 times) all the way to Key West and many states in between. It's only appropriate that they both passed away in the RV on a trip in our happy space, all together. As brother and sister they have brought us so much joy over the years. While this is heart breaking, we know they are once again togther. My heart is heavy and my tears are many but I'm grateful for the happiness they brought us. Oh, how much I loved these fur babies and will miss them 🐈⬛🐾 RIP my sweet babies ❤️
The days we traveled after the loss of Thor was so odd. To look back in the RV and not see either fur baby on the sofa feels a bit empty. They were both such great traveling companions.
Two days before the little guy passed he was roaming around looking for his eternal resting place.
Thank you Greg & Lisa for creating a beautiful stone (that came from the Alaska trip) and a resting place for our little buddy, Thor. ♥️
Getting ready to roll out to the next stop.
Time for a beach wedding, Janne and Kia are in town from Sweden to celebrate their life and love on Hollywood Beach. The closest and available campground was the Yacht Haven Park & Marina. This campground was not our normal view or patrons, but it did make a great place to host the "Last Fling before the Ring" party. 🤣
Looking out of the front window from site #406 complete with full hookup and artificial turf.
Not your usual Jeep behind the RV.😂
The Last Fling Before the Ring Party
Kia likes to ride horses around the fire, so Lisa is showing her how it is done at the party.
The Bride & Groom: Fun in the afternoon sun!
Brothers from another mother, the groom and best man celebrate the union.
Cheers from the 3 amigos!
Look at that wedding party, what a crew.
And our special guests from Daytona!
The reception at a Peruvian restaurant in South Beach Miami and then on to the cruise ship in the morning. Congratulations Janne & Kia! 💍
We were able to get into a campground in the Keys because four more sites were created at the park. The best part is we have no where to be and no plans for the next 7 days, just R & R.
We took the ebikes across the ighway to Sol by the Sea to capture the first sunset of this stay!
Campsite for the week.
Sunday, funday...where is Lisa? When your shirt matches the dock and drinks are ready!

I've been trying to get a picture of this large lobster on a couple of different trips.
The sun entangled in the palm trees. Sunrise from the RV bedroom window.

New camping friends, Jon, Susan, and Amanda meeting up for Happy Hour at Snappers!
Park it here...land it!
Back to camp after a great day... Indian in the night.
Shining bright!
Harley in the night.
Another beautiful morning in Key Largo.
We headed up to Lake Okeechobee where the weather was iffy and RV park was more of a park model community with seasonal or full time residents. Unfortunately we were in overflow parking outside the main park along Hwy 27 (where the traffic didn't die down much at night).
The grounds in the RV park were nice, they had a community tiki bar area, very clean bathrooms, and an easy place to pick up delivered packages.
The weather was nice over the weekend where we went to the local tiki bar (Roland Martin Marina & Resort) for Sunday Funday. These new friend introduced us to pickle back shots...Yikes, down the Jameson Irish Whiskey and chase it with pickle juice.
With over 2,500 species, this palm tree seemed to be naturally framed for a picture.
New sounds heard from inside the RV, a crop duster buzzing around the fields in front of the RV.
On Monday we took a ride all the way around Lake Okeechobee and also took the Martin Grade Scenic Highway.
Martin Grade Scenic Highway – County Road 714 – known to the locals simply as “The Grade” is a beautiful road that time seems to have forgotten. The Grade stands proudly as the western accessway to Martin County, lined with cabbage palms, maples and stately oaks that arch above the roadway to form a lush canopy over much of the corridor.
Time for some Hot Shots back at camp!
Hot Shots: Galliano, strong/hot coffee, and whip cream!
While it was a bit chilly and wet for Greg's birthday it was still better than the weather in north Florida.
We were parked in this site just about a month ago at Bay Breeze. Brrr... looks quite different.
Looking up from the bay in Mobile at Bay Breeze. Our friend Mike was hunkered down making jambalaya.
Snow totals for this "once in a generation" storm were 7.5" Mobile AL, 8.8" Milton, FL, and 10" New Orleans, LA 1/21/25
On my walk today and on Squirrel Appreciation Day, January 21st, this white squirrel was spotted in the campground.
White squirrels are just another color variant of the common gray/brown species. The most common sightings of white squirrels are of isolated individuals with a completely white coat but dark eyes, a condition known as leucistic.
Wow, what a difference a week makes with the weather, this stop was all sunny & warm. (high temps 70-80s with lows in 50-60s). The campground was a friendly full hook up campground with accommodations for campers from motor homes to tents and everything in between. Just a 10 minute walk to white, sandy shell-lined beaches (we're only .5 of a mile away!).
The Sanibel has a national wildlife refuge, golf courses, over 22 miles of bicycle paths and 14 miles of white sand, shell-lined beaches. We used the Ebikes several days.
A different type of Buorbon Street...warmer and snow free.
Looking south toward Turner Beach. This is one of the suggested great places for viewing sunset. The beach is temporarily closed due to hurricane damage, but there were plenty of people hanging around.
Rode the Ebikes to Captiva and had the beach to ourselves. Hurricanes Helene, Milton, and Ian(2years) ago have been hard on Captiva.
Looking north toward Captiva Island.
Taking a little bicycle break and enjoying the view at J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge.
I talked with a local and all of this sand had to be removed from the carports and around the foundation from hurricanes Helene and Milton.
Houses around Captiva, some live a little differently. 😂
The Path down to the beach to scout out shells and get a little exercise. Just beautiful views.
Walking with the jingle of shells in my pocket each morning.
Today's find on the walk was the sea turtle sculpture.
A new business card for our website. Shells for everyone!
Decorating the palm tree each day with a few shells.
This evening we went to Turner Beach to eat pizza, listen to music, and view the sunset.
Say hello to my little friend from the beach today.
The office view from the RV was a little different on this day. On this Thirsty Thursday there was live music playing just outside the RV at the campground pavilion. So many campers enjoying the music and company.
To the beach a little after sunrise for another morning walk. I sure do love how the beach changes everyday after the tides come in and out.
We moved inland a bit and the temperature definitely went up, one day it was 91 degrees. George the host, has 4 sites. We were in the Vista De Palma site with the pond on one side and the pool on the other. The site is surrounded by nature and tropical foliage. Being a very large site makes it easy to enter and exit and set up your camp however you like. The site is positioned east to west making it easy to soak in the southern sun or throw your awning out to cool of in the shade. You’ll have a 30 amp Rv outlet, potable water hookup, and private fire pit.
Unfortunately the farm was hit by the fall hurricanes, Helene & Milton, and is still being cleaned up.
Good Morning!
Lars in his remote office. It was a nice, quiet site near a delicious BBQ place, Hogbody's Bar & Grill.
We have been under the Sunshine Skyway Bridge on a cruise ship but today we traveled over the toll bridge on our way to the campground. The bridge is over four miles long and 430 feet tall.
So this stop counted as two stops since we parked in Area 3 (site #205) for five nights on the water and then we moved to Area 2 (#124) where we acquired another 4 nights (the only section allowed for pets). We really enjoyed the bike paths and kayaking in the little bays around the campground.
Site #205 with full hookup
More of my favorite things...another beautiful sunset!
We enjoyed eBiking around the island and into the little town to enjoy some local restaurants.
Those orange colors each night at sunset were such a treat.
Walking the three camping loops each morning was a nice little two mile walk.
Where is Mocha Tiki (the RV)? Parked between the palms.
Kayaking a few different days while in the area. Here we stopped for an icecream break.
Another good looking site, #199. Actually there quite a few of water view sites in the different loops.
The moon rising over Mullet Key Bayou while we paddled on with a little motor assistance on the kayak.
Trying to keep the collection of shells under control by creating art around trees and leaving them for the next camper.
I will forever be the person who gets excited when the sky displays such pretty colors, whether it is sunrise or sunset.
Another view of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge from the kayak.
Kayaking around Mullet Key Bayou
Rarely have we seen the moon set, but on this particular morning at low tide in the 5am hour, we had that opportunity,
More shell collection along St Christopher Key in the early morning hours during low tide.
Took the eBikes to do some more exploring on St Pete Beach.
At the Undertow Beach Bar the rubber duckies flow around the bar with patrons betting on whose ducky will come in first.
View out to the newly named Gulf of America.
Smuggler's Tavern was a little local bar where we met Vanessa and Jimmy. We had many laughs with them on Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday evening.
Since we were in the area we stopped by The 27th Annual Thunder By The Bay Music & Motorcycle Festival. It was a three-day event at the Sarasota Fairgrounds and benefits Suncoast Charities for Children. National Headline Acts included Blue Öyster Cult (Friday – Feb. 14), Grand Funk Railroad (Saturday – Feb. 15), and many other tribute bands that were excellent.
Friday night: Blue Öyster Cult arrived on stage to share their legacy that spans over five decades with classic songs like "Godzilla," " Burnin' for You," and "(Don't Fear) the Reaper."
The rock band Grand Funk Railroad, known for hits like "We're An American Band" and "Some Kind of Wonderful" played Saturday night at Thunder by the Bay.
We went to Samurai Japanese Fusion for sushi on the day before Valentine's Day but then ended up going back for Valentine's Day lunch because it was delicious and the presentation was quite well done.
Here at Coquina Beach we stopped for an open air market with concessions, clothing, toys, and much more.
We took a motorcycle ride from Sarasota to Longboat Key, Bradenton Beach, and Anna Maria Island where the effects of September hurricanes were still very prevalent. The beaches were just gorgeous with many still rallying from devastation mother nature.
A stop at the florist was made to surprise me with a beautiful Valentine's Day bouquet.
The tip of Anna Maria Island at the pier.
Newly opened tiki bar on Bradenton Beach.
On this day we took a different loop around on the motorcycle. We went south to Siesta Key, Osprey, and North Jetty Beach (which was still temporarily closed due to the hurricanes).
The houses on this curvy little road (Casey Key) were just amazing.
As we cruised down the street some of the houses didn't even fit in the picture with a wide angle lens.
As we continued down the road, they too had several houses that were destroyed by the storms.
This little Gopher Tortoise was crossing the road and heading to the bay.
The landscaping was being replaced after the hurricanes by semi trucks full of full size palm trees.
We were ready to kayak along the turquoise waters of the Chassahowitzka River (locals call it Case-of-Whiskey since pronunciation is a bit difficult) but the weather had other plans. We did get one afternoon where we saw palmettos, many types of birds, oak trees with Spanish moss, lots of palm trees, and mangrove trees. This area is known to be the True Nature Coast of Florida.
Site #3 Full Hookup
Looking south from the boat ramp at the campground.

On the Chassahowitzka River just passed 7 Sister Springs.
Area close to Salt and Potter Creek. We will come back and do some more exploring.
We had a long 21 minute travel day to the old Homosassa town center area. Here we took the eBikes and visited the local eating/drinking establishments.
It was a quaint campground that's nestled on a tree-shaded bank of the Homosassa River and still trying to come back from the September hurricanes.
A little fun, pizza, and alligator sausage at the Monkey Bar.
Monkey Island, home to Spider Monkeys that climb on platforms, swing from ropes, and clamber around the base of the small replica lighthouse.
Great shrimps, full order $20 (~40 shrimps) and cheap buckets of beer at The Freezer.
Also made a visit to Crump's Landing where we had ahi tuna and bang-bang shrimp while sitting dockside. After lunch we headed over to McRae's Shed.
Sunset on our last evening in Homosassa.
Located on the St. John's River, this campground is quiet and relaxing with many nice campers and staff.
Morrison Creek which leads to the St John River.
Even if it's a little rainy, it's good to get out and see a little wildlife.
Ha, fun sign at the campground entrance.
Returning back to the area for the 84th Daytona Bike Week. Always a great time with friends, good food, fun rides, bike shows, and places to see!
See the slide show of Bike Week pictures here .
Mooch-docking in the front yard and the best camp hosts ever. 🤣🍻
Bikers hanging at the driveway party.
The chicks hanging with frosty chunky monkey drinks!
A new patch for the jacket.
Leaving our mark at the Iron Horse bar.
And the rides begin...today we traveled the Deland, FL loop (with it's own Saturday Bike Rally) with visits to OB's, Swamp House Tiki Bar for lunch, Foxhead Lounge, on to Cabbage Patch (never went in...tired), and a cruise down Main Street Daytona.
When in Daytona you have to make a visit to the "Boot" where live music and people watching are at its best.
Blustery day for a ride, but Flagler Beach never disappoints. A little libation break at Tortugas Bar & Grill.
Bike Week is hard! 🤣 Waiting for the band to play at Iron Horse.
Another absolutely fabulous dessert is at Captain Jack's in Daytona. Banana Foster does not disappoint and is quite the treat! It is sliced bananas, brown sugar, banana liqueur, rum & pecans, sautéed & poured over a fresh, flaky puff pastry stuffed with vanilla ice cream.
Florida Sunshine Cake at the River Grille in Ormond Beach! Not only is there a great view of the Tomoka River, but they have this great dessert. This layered orange cake (made from fresh oranges) and orange mousse with vanilla cream icing is fantastic.
Outback Crab Shack has house made beignets with raspberry and caramel sauce with whip cream and powder sugar.
After scoping out this campground on the motorcycle, we decided to make a return trip to the area, near Altoona, FL. Alexander Springs Recreation Area is located in the Ocala National Forest near the beautiful, turquoise waters of Alexander Springs. This 67-unit primitive campground can accommodate RVs up to 35-feet long or as the host said, "if you fit in, you fit in."
Primitive site #65 in the D loop.
Night exposure
Beer run!
Today we met Double D, Dennis and Dan and realized we needed to go on an eBike beer run. Then later that evening Double D came back on the eBikes and said we need to see the springs at night. So like a bunch of renegade teenagers we took off to take some night photos. 🤣
That's not the sun, but rather the nearly full moon.
Look closely, it's the Little Dipper between the palm trees.
The beautiful, turquoise waters of Alexander Springs during the day.
Such a fun day in the sun and then on to Drifters for black-n-blue shrimp, Ahi tuna, and cocktails.
This coastal area was devastated by hurricanes Helene and Milton, but they are rebuilding and making their way back to a known fishing town. After visiting last spring we decided to stay in town so that we could eBike around to some of our favorite places, Fiddler's outside bar, and Crabbie Dads little tiki bar trailer with picnic tables.
Sunset where the Steinhatchee River runs into the Deadman Bay and then in to the Gulf.
Site #4 full hookup
Sites 1-3 at Big Z Resort
While visiting the local establishments we had some fun with a few of the local characters, or as we giggled and said, Steinhatchee swashbuckling pirates, like Slim Jim and to the left the fella that is so lucky to be "good lookin" because he took after his grandfather. 🤣😅😂
Just a little view of the devastation in Steinhatchee. Several boats are still displaced.
What use to be Roy's. They currently have a food and booze trailer as the work to rebuild the restaurant.
Crabbie Dads reeling back from devastation by opening a mobile Tiki bar.
Metal roofing wrapped around tree limbs.
Eastbank Campground is located on Lake Seminole on the Georgia-Florida state line. The lake and surrounding area provide a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities. The campground is open year-round and offers a total of 65 sites, most of which have both electric and water hookups.
Site 10 with 50amp electric and water.
Our eBike adventure today was a ride over to the Jim Woodruff Lock, then on to Chattahoochee River Landing Park and into the town.
Fire sky right after a fantastic sunset.
🎵Smoke on the Water🎶 This could be a watercolor painting. In the distance is the Corp of Engineers powerhouse that uses the Chattahoochee River and Apalachicola River to produce power.
R. Shaefer Heard Campground has 117 sites with electricity and water hookups. and is located on the southern shore of West Point Lake, which spans parts of Alabama and Georgia. This man-made lake has 525 miles of shoreline.
Site #97 50amp electric and water. Before sunset we took a litlte tour of the campground loops.

Site #41 Full Hookup
We went to The Brink Deli & Tavern near the historic district for lunch and then for an eBike ride down to Point Mallard Park. Nice day to enjoy the sunshine and cool temperatures. The Brick was listed as a place to visit because of its warm natural brick interior, fun decor, and old tavern feel.
There are a lot of sites at this campground from primitive or basic, electric/water, and full hook up but many of them are sloppy.
Sunset at the beach are quite lovely.
Bike and hike trails.
We tried the biking trails, they were not maintained as well as we would have liked. There were many places where we needed to get off the bikes to get over the fallen trees or crevices due to erosion.
