John Elbert Maxwell, Jr. (1937-1991)

John Elbert Maxwell, Jr. was born in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1937.

During his time at the University of Virginia, he was a Founding Member of Beta Upsilon Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. He was a Religion Major and participated in the Jefferson Society, the Christian Science Organization and Skull and Keys.

After UVA, he served in the Army, both on active duty and in the reserves.

John lived much of his life in Alexandria, Virginia – but also lived in Morocco, Pensacola, and Memphis.

After obtaining a second BA (this one from the University of Maryland in Financial Management), John had a career in Banking as well as with the Department of the Navy in Kenitra Morocco and Pensacola, Florida. He received an award from the American Institute of Banking.

John was married to Caroline Morton in 1966. They had two children – Carrie and John III.

He died in 1991 as a result of a massive heart attack.

We remember John for many wonderful things, not the least of which was his impish grin and infectious sense of humor.
